amazing, For those who think it is alright to use on your 10 hour reset, think about that when someone runs into your truck or kills someone you care about.

Michigan should have a simple law, if you have a card, you don't have a CDL.

The need for the card means you are in pain, you need it for consistent relief of pain.

If you have a legit need for it for pain, then you don't need to be driving a truck.

I absolutely do not agree with the use of cannibis for PTSD or other mental issues.

So if someone has a beer at the start of their 10, sleeps for 8 hours then gets up and rolls they are likely to hurt someone?

I don't even see what the fuss is about smoking pot on your off-duty time. I don't use any kind of drug except for alcohol (and nicotine, if you want to get really specific), but I fail to see what the big deal is. I don't condone for OTR because America takes pot way more seriously than Canada and crossing state lines/borders is with drugs is borderline insane. But smoking a joint is probably better than pounding six beers on your time off. A lot of the local companies around here don't drug test the drivers, especially in the construction industry. I've played poker with plenty of drivers who rolled up on the weekend and had a good time. I wasn't shocked or appalled.

Yeah, its funny but pot is still illegal in Canada but yet its acceptable, and in America, its legal in about half the states but still unacceptable. I don't agree with breaking the law though; and risking ones future is just crazy. I think the laws need to be amended, but until they are, I will abide by them.

Not necessarily, the O/P asked a question that is very relevant, as this subject comes up a lot. People that don't smoke have this misconception, that one puff, and pink elephants start dancing in front of you or the highway becomes a pinwheel. It's not like that at all. Moderation is the key, as with anything. Years ago, before drug testing, I used to smoke and I usually used it to help me fall asleep, but a puff or 2 while driving was a great boredom killer. Times have changed, and I would never think of doing that today, as if you have any on you, and you have a license plate light out, you'll go to jail, and at 59, I don't want that. This country's attitudes have to change about weed, and it is, slowly. I don't think it will ever come off the naughty list, but in the privacy of your home, I see nothing wrong with it, and it does help many people, where prescription drugs just don't do it. For example, I have a friend with Crohns disease, gets all kinds of stuff from the doc, and nothing helps him except a few puffs of weed.
