The dedicated account (UNFI) we were on really didn't change... Our loop didn't change... The attitudes with Swiftral changed. We were able purchase our truck with NO help from EIL (the leasing company for Swift)... In fact they almost blew our financing! But we are past that part in our lives, and on to our next adventure
DragonHalo99 Thanks this. -
wow i wish you guys the best. Ive been doing a little to much thinking latly and I have come to realize I am pushing my self too hard and thats why I am having trouble keeping on time latly. I am stressed out and should take a few days off, and since i have to get the def filters baked might as well. I am trying to figure out though how much is too much home time and how much is too little. For the past 5 months ive only spent 3 days of it at home(not counting having to sit for repairs or waiting on a load). As far as the mentor thing goes I am not going to do it. Thank you ice train for your advice. I wanted to do as good as I could with this lease purchase. I have kept this truck moving but layovers and getting detained have cost me. I have done everything the way you should run a truck and its not working out. Is it me? I think I need to go back to my original plan and just keep saving up money for college. Thats why I became a trucker my whole idea was by not paying living expenses for a few years I could effectivly put my self through school without debt. Thats my whole goal go to college without debt. I am going to be going into it tech.

My advice (take it or not)... If you've had a year out here, find a company position and drop the lease. Go OTR and put your stuff in storage... Run like crazy putting as much $$ in the bank as you can! Then find yourself a local job, a small place, go to school... If I was young again, and no ties, it's what I would do... But then hindsight is 20/20...GabeScott Thanks this.

Newbie here, hope to be starting with Central in mid August. just had 1 question, Do they allow you to take the truck home? Z.z its a long drive from GA since i live near the beach in NC.
-
Yes i believe so, word of advice if you plan on taking a trailer home with you in a residential area watch the power lines.whiteshadow Thanks this.

word. there is like a miniature truck stop not even 5 mins away id just leave truck there :X just thought of another question, would they take me with my bp being 148/92, >_>; just checked for first time in a few years and i was surprised it wasn't higher than that.
-
a few questions.
What should i bring to training? and how much money do you think i should take with me? -
If that would pass the DOT physical, then yes... Not sure of the limits, but that BP might earn you a one year card... Trailer you would leave at the nearest yard, and not sure if there is a Swift Terminal near you, but they might require you to leave your truck there if you are in a certain mileage range... Things have changed now that Swift took over!!

They always allowed me to take my truck home when I was a company driver and as a lease op they don't care. I to live at the NC coast "Harkers Island" to be exact and their closest terminal is Richmond so you are outside the mileage I'm sure. Central also has a lot of freight coming out of eastern NC so home time shouldn't be an issue.whiteshadow Thanks this.
