How far will truck go before needing to refuel

240 gallons at 6 MPG would get you 1440 miles.

If you have 1/4 tanks left after 800 miles that means you would be around 4.5 MPG.
Assuming, of course, that you are not just going by the fuel gauge reading and are actually putting 180 gallons in the tanks to fill them.
800 miles at 6 MPG would only take around 133 gallons, so just over 1/2 tank.

 

I have 2 110gl tanks, I go about 1,100-1.175 miles and it takes around 180 gl to fill up

 

I only have a 100 gal tank and sometimes I 'll fuel twice in one shift.

 

You'll never fill a tank to capacity and you never want to run it right down to the bottom. Figure about 80% of capacity. So dual 120's will give you about 190 gallons, multiply that by your fuel mileage and you'll know how far you can go.

 

I have two 80 gallons and I think the draw is 75 each, and I fuel every 750-800 miles. I know when the low fuel light comes on at 1/8 tank, I'll put on about 125 but I usually fill it up at 1/4 tank.

 

Most of the starter companies will tell you which route to take and will have places picked out for you to fuel so you never run out.

 

True, I rarely fill my tanks, that way I fuel more and always have free showers.

 

Umm, I don't mean to be a wiseaxx,( unless I'm reading the question wrong) but there's a gauge on the dash that gives a pretty good indication of how much fuel is left. Remember, on round tanks, the gauge will stay at 1/2 for a long time( widest part of the tank) and drop pretty fast once you go below 1/2.

 

True, but those fuel routes are computer generated and often don't make sense. They can take you out of the most efficient route or make you stop and fuel just before delivery when you are on a tight schedule. Always double check the fuel route against what you think is most efficient. I frequently bypass fuel stops or run a more efficient route on an interstate and ask them to "reoptimize" my fuel route when I am ready for fuel.

 

After about six months, you'll know which truck stops across the country your company prefers you to fuel at since they get a good discount at those locations.
