Check for ring marks from your liners on the underside of the head when it's cleaned up. If you have grooves that you can feel when you drag your fingernail over it your block has wear and liners are vibrating. You will need to get your head resurfaced along with getting the counterbores cut if this is the case. As far as the spacer plate. If it doesn't show any obvious wear to it I'd mic it and reuse if it's even. My last spacer ran 1.8 million and never caused an issue but it was within specs and even around all cylinders.

You have to assemble it, then measure everything to see what you have, you can not just replace parts and expect it to be right. It takes time and special pieces to measure the liner protrution, and it is important, then you have to cut the block and shim the liners to get everything correct. Then you want to check the head gasket to be sure the compression ring is not cracked. Just run the side of your finger around the inside, if it hooks it is junk. I have rebuilt hundreds of every kind of engines, they all have to be done correct the first time, taking short cuts never works.
Just a thought!EverLuc Thanks this. -

Many opinions I'm sure but I'd work it hard, limited idle. Change oil sooner than usual.

What lester said. Change oil from 5 to 7k and give her hell. Drive it like u stole it and check oil often cause oil consumption might be excessive for awhile.

Liner protrusion should not be less than .005". Also, brand new Cat heads NEED to be resurfaced correctly. It is nothing to see a new Cat head surface be .004" low in the middle. That is measuring sideways, not lengthwise. Most of our good mechanic customers, are having their new heads resurfaced before they install them. Most take .003" to .005" to clean them up. The head will not pull down even close to that much, causing the gasket to be .003" to .005" less clamping in the middle. That is one of the reasons Cats are known to blow head gaskets.
