I just finished up my training at ASU newport 4 days ago, I'm now waiting for pickup by my trainer from P.A.M, they say it could be a week or more *sheesh!*

anyways, what I'm curious about is how exactly I am going to get money to my spouse while on the road. we do not currently have a bank account (and don't want one) can I get a card for her as well as for myself so we can share the use of it? or am I going to be wiring with western union etc? major newb question I know but I haven't found any good info on this yet anywhere.

You will have to do western union...Maybe you can see if it would be possable to set up a checking account before you head out,and they can direct deposit the money....

i know at our company, you can give your spouse some "blank" comchecks, (all truckstops should have them if they do Comdata) and then your spouse can call the 1-800 # for Comdata and register one of their blank checks then cash it. If in doubt, call your payroll dept. they should be able to help. Just know that Comdata is very expensive to have...they charge for every single transaction. Most banks don't charge, but truck stops do. It is much cheaper to do dir. deposit. Check if P.A.M. participates in any credit unions--they're checking accts are usually decent (meaning no fees, etc).

There are issues here since the companies may charge a hefty fee to use their comdata account.

There are also major reasons to not have checking accounts, but I would strongly look into something that would allow a direct transfer to a cash debit card or something for the wife.

I know that at least at Wells Fargo, it is possible to get a Savings account, and an ATM card linked to the account.
You can do a Direct Deposit to the savings account and then your wife can withdraw cash at the ATM... She won't be
able to use it in stores without it being a true debit card linked to a checking account, though.

i want to say our company pays some of the fees...not 100% sure as I don't work in payroll. All I know is we highly discourage it b/c it is so expensive for both the company (Comdata charges us too) and the driver.

Robert took me on three of my road trips, super guy...he really helped me when I was having trouble with my downshifting. Dennis is the man! he was the most helpful guy on the line. as for Mac, he isn't there but we did have to watch a pre-trip video starring him a few times.

Hutch is still denting doors with his cane, Gus is still grumpy, but helpful. All in all it was a great experience, though there was one guy on the range I could have done without...Benny, if your reading this? kiss my crack :biggrin_25523:

as far as the Checking account goes, I was burned a while back and I've been existing just fine without one for some time. it may be time to bite the bullet and get another though. Going to check into the credit union idea first though.
