I was doing some reading about the units that monitor tire pressure and temp. Seems like a heck of a great idea, especially with 30 tires. Anyone know if you can get systems that can handle that many tires, as well as our canadian winters, -30 and wheels full of ice and snow, and still work? If so, what kind, and what do they cost?
Anyone using tire pressure monitor systems up here?

Used Cat's Eyes on my equipment years ago and Used Nitrogen instead of air so temperature was not a problem.
Big Red Pete and 04 LowMax Thank this. -
Google TST tire monitoring system.. I think it can monitor up to 36 tires but check on that..Will get pricey with 30 tires lol
04 LowMax Thanks this. -
Could a guy use this system as a poor mans air bag scales if he plumb these sensors into his suspension gauge? -
NO. The idea of pressure monitoring or central air system is to keep the pressure at a CONSISTENT PSI. So if it was set at 100 PSI and say your Tandem suspension in 34,000 lbs. at 60 PSI, you sure don't want you bags at 100 PSI.
Just get a guage and T connect into the line supplying the bags.Pullin2 Thanks this. -
I have used the TST and Pressure Pro on a 3 axle Motorhome. Neither are very good. . Lots of false alarms. I know that some units are available as an option on either Pet's or KW. Borg Warner or some other high end make. Expensive. Mounts inside the Rim. All those other systems are Chinese and unreliable. You need a system that shows both pressure and Temp. If a tire is starting to go bad the temp will rise before it loses pressure. My company has the cat eyes on their trailers. Great idea but the metal tubes get rusty and develop pin holes. I suppose if you watched them after a few years they would work great.

Use nitrogen and the tire will maintain constant pressure, hot or cold. Nitrogen is inert and doesn't expand or contract.
That's why airplanes and race cars use Nitrogen.Last edited: Jul 11, 2014

thats what im saying T connect into the line supplying the bags but use these sensors to digitally read your psi from the cab of your truck.
it doesnt regulate pressure it only sends what the PSI is. the sending unit doesnt know if its hooked up to tires or air bigs. Air pressure is air pressure.Last edited: Jul 11, 2014

That's my whole point.

so this system could be used to read the psi at the air bags, true or false?
