I had a Lipe Clutch installed a couple of years ago. At the time, I didn't realize there was a tool that came with it. It stayed back at the shop. My clutch Is starting to slip and I need to adjust it. It seems really easy. I think it would be easier to make my own tool rather than get one from Lipe, if they offer one separately. I gather that it is 1/2" round stock, square on one end and a 45 degree cut on the other end and long enough to reach the collar locks, leaving enough room for your gripping and a little left over for hammer strikes. Will cold rolled steel work? Are either end hardened? What is the length? Is the adjustment really as easy as the brochure and video make it out to be?

Never mind, a long screwdriver, a hammer and something 1/2" wide is all you need. It is as easy as the video shows it to be, so easy, in fact, even a truck driver can do it!

I adjusted mine on istall to the 1/2 inch suggested point. I went to adjust it a few months ago(500,000mi since install) and both sections are turning simultaneously. So I just left it alone. I was just using a long flat bar. Is there a clutch that is better performance wise than the Lipe?

Once you loosen the locking ring nearest the engine, moving the locking ring nearest the transmission will move both locking rings at the same time. It is possible that the front ring was not locked in the first place. Leaving it unlocked was not a good idea.

I go to try to unlock the front ring and the back moves. So, I tried to hold the trans side ring and loosen the front and it is tight. I didnt want to bang them apart so I just let it be.

Are you saying both rings are stuck together? The should be over .5" or 1.0" apart. I would have to look at the video again for the greatest distance apart. As your clutch wears, that distance will get greater and greater until you have to replace the clutch.
Go look up the video on installing the Lipe Clutch, at the end, it show you how to adjust it. -
Yup. Watched video. On mine rings are stuck together. Dang. I really don't remember if they were apart when installed. It was actually just that easy to install. Ok, so what does them being stuck together mean being that if they are over 1.25 apart on should look @ replacing the clutch.

How much thread can you see that those locking rings are spinning around? Are they locked together towards the engine. towards the transmission or somewhere in between? If you can see threads between the locking ring towards the engine it is unlocked and all you have to do is hit the two rings in opposite directions, tightening the engine ring and loosening the transmission ring. Once they are separated, follow the adjustment instructions. If you clutch is not acting up, you are probably OK, but I would fix it as soon as possible. It only takes about 15 minutes.
EverLuc Thanks this. -
Awesome information terrylamar. I just looked @ it and there are zero threads towards transmission and close to 1 3/4 inch worth of threads towards the engine. Clutch is not giving me problems. I just never felt the "Wow" factor over the OEM Eaton clutch in reference to performance. The easy install was absolutely fantastic though. Perhaps once I get it readjusted it shall perform differently.
