Yes you're probably right about how he dumped his problem on you, but in hind sight he may have taught you a cheap lesson. Save for the time off work and the 6 hrs traveling time, it cost you nothing and it's an experience I bet you'll not soon forget.
Just finished my 5 week training period. Had a ? Concerning issue at weigh station.

Pretty sure I know the answer to that question. If you want them to pay you, you will be teaming. Otherwise you are dead weight and not earning your keep.
-
It sounds though that some companies do 7-10 days of actual training, and others team drive you for 5 weeks. If the truck is moving I want to be training, not sleeping. I'd rather training be unpaid than have to teamdrive for a month so they can justify training pay.

Hmmmm. Maybe I should start my own truck school. Student would drive for free. 1974 w/ detroit & set of sticks. Heck after a couple of weeks they could drive everything.

I didn't have much of a defense. I was basically going to explain what happened and hopefully appeal to the wisdom of the judge. I got a copy of the bill of lading from the driver but it was a crappy copy with no signature on it. The company offered me no help in anyway they did say it was my trainer's fault but said we had to work it out amongst each other. I didn't tell the company about the trainer, I just chalked it up to a lesson learned. I will never make that mistake again.

I personally prefer the way Roehl does it. They only put you on the road for two weeks you do all the driving. The trainer just sits in the passenger seat to help you out if you have any questions. To me that's more beneficial to a new driver.

Are you still with DSW? If you posted that you'd quit and moved on, I missed it, sorry.

No. Helping friend with business right now. Will get back into trucking in spring. I'll probably go with Schneider in the spring.
