Canada doesn't have the infrastructure to support E-Logs. I have yet to see a rest area in SK that allows trucks. BC thinks a #### stained drop toilet without running water is adequate and AB is a step up but still only slightly above third world standards. I try to stay out of the rest of the country. In BC our national highway is a two lane undivided secondary road that can't handle the volume of traffic that it carries now, let alone the potential increase due to E-logs.

If labor standards that most other employees in Canada enjoy were applied to truck drivers it may solve the problems of low wages. Maybe.

From my perspective, having gotten into this mosh pit the summer that guys like Randy Pelluso shut down the PAC HWY crossing. While others shut down the Ambassador Bridge to protest the devastating effects of deregulation. It took 15-20 years for the market to correct itself. I suspect the effects of E-Logs may take just as long. I have no desire to live through something like that again.

 

I run elogs right now, doesn't matter to me where I park or how far I drive in a day since I'm hourly. Just about took a mileage job but then slapped myself wondering what I was thinking when I drove back from Calgary on Friday lol. 12 hours to drive 973km..

 

Ok let's say I hire you to deliver some freight from Vancouver to Edmonton. Its winter time, its snowing on the coq, and your one of those super truckers that decides to pull the smasher barefoot. You spin out and shut the highway down for 6 hours. With your theory a company should pay hourly trucking rate and your employer ot hours for your screw up?

i was thinking you knew this, just didnt read that way maybe to those that dont understand the whole fed reg carrier thing

 

I've been paid out of my company's pocket for delays like that even when it was my screw up, As my boss's have said #### happens. And that's been at multiple employers.
