I am looking to buy 3 chasis what should I look for and what manufacturer would you recomend?

Only real requirement would be that it can handle both a 20 and 40 containers

Generally all the brands your gonna run into are about the same quality wise. I would look into buying something that comes equipped with ABS that way you won't end up with bricks as tires incase you have a trailer brake ONLY happy driver and also try to get some with 11r22.5 wheel and tires so that way you can easily replace tires when the time comes or incase you have a blow out on the road, 22.5's are easier to find rather than 10.00r20's, oh and most 22.5 container wheels are mounted just like regular wheels they are not splitrims like 10.00r20's are. Also I wouldn't advise on getting those 20-40-45 multi use chassis as I call them, it's just to many moving parts so I would think maintenance goes up a little more.

I would suggest air-ride for a happy driver, and a serious maintenance program for a happy wallet. The #1 rule in maintenance is, you can pay for it now, or pay for it later. But if you choose later it always cost more (double is a fair guide).

On of the reason I am giong to buy them is because of the tires. Have you heard of any problems with the multi use chasis. 1 out of every 10 loads we are pulling for this customer is going to be on 20'

I would buy a separate chassis for that 20, I've never heard of people having problems with those multi use but if you think about it those chassis have more moving parts than regular chassis do, so that's why I wouldn't buy them.

Only problem with multi use is the sliding pads and getting the pins to lock and unlock. You have to get use to them.

    id suggest http://www.transworldequipment.com/new-chassis/gn20-40-spread-axle-combo.php

put dump valve for the bags near the back of it for unloading and loading operations. You will over extend the bags if not deflated.

heres a weight limit calculator for max weights for a container.

    http://www.cargoagents.net/resources/stateroadweightsizelimitations.htm

if I could buy my own chassis it would be the one listed above with a lift axle on the front spread when empty.

    BeN DaViS Thanks this.
