I got my authority today, but I won't actually receive the document from the gov for approx 10 days via the US Postal Service. And I've been told we can't actually start to operate until we have that document in our truck. The reason I know my authority has been granted today is because I received a computer generated phone call with a recorded message that said so, & if I wanted to print the document instead of waiting for it in the mail, I could go to this web site, www.iccasap.com. Apparently this web site is legit, according to OOIDA, I called them. But the site wants $17.50 if I wish to print it out. Has anyone had experience with this site. On the checkout page there's a block for a coupon code. Where might I get a coupon code, maybe I can save a few bucks.
More important though is the US Gov's lack of discretion with releasing of my personal information to a 3rd party. How is it I, nor the US Gov can access my authority so I can have this today, but a private company can if I pay them $17.50? I called FMCSA today & verified all this, if I don't receive my authority in the mail in 10 days, I can call them, after 10 days they will have access to my authority & can fax it to me. While I'm on the subject of how the US Gov operates, I don't appreciate being bombarded with phone calls just a few seconds after hitting enter on my computer when applying for my DOT & MC #. Why can't the gov just publish a list of companies that provides the services we might need & let us choose who we want to talk to & when? Or maybe some of us might choose to talk to no one & do everything online?
Using iccasap.com to get a copy of my authority?
