A trucker, A driver operator, a professional Truck driver. Who and what are we ? The resposibility behind the wheel, the danager we face each day. and many othere factors we can and should think about every time we are preparing to do our pre trip. I do think every driver should be very proud of the work they do. To take on the huge resposibility ea. have every second one is behind the wheel. The sacrafice a driver makes leaving his or her home to go out and perform the duty. A driver/trucker should be very very proud. know without dout they are in a very important as well as dangerous proffession with a overwhelming amount of responsibility. A driver/trucker should have the selfrespect with pride and walk TALL for performing in his/her career field. I believe MOST all companys today are taking advantage of the truck driver, they allow too many recruiters to get involved and promote too many gimmicks within our wages to promote. I see it as the trucking companys (most - close too all big companys ) have concluded drivers are here to use and abuse when needed. Why ! Lets blame the goverment ? Blame the Companys ? Oh maybe fuel cost and inflation. Lets be Real here !!!!! Blame our selves as truck drivers !!!!!!!!
we allowed this to become what it is...... Too change things , How ? lets start being real.... Self respect, take pride in who we are ! and what we do. Allow the knowledge / Scraffice/danger and all othere aspects of our job to be respected by all. One should have the selfrespect to avoid a income thats nothing more than a gimmick for a CDL -A on a companys books for peanuts. Stand Tall ! even if it means finding a job in a different career field.

I agree 2feathers ...
We can only blame ourselves for what has happened to this industry ,when i talk to the old timers they all say they are glad to be getting out and most of the newbies don't have a clue ....i wouldn't drive OTR 50cpm to live in a truck on the job 24/7 for weeks at time ,its a shame we have so much power but don't know how to use it ....im making steps toward getting out of the drivers seat myself ,the money is just not there anymore and getting worse so i figure they can get it there themselves in little red wagons as far as im concerned ....im not gonna knock em for doin good business ....but im also not going to compromise a dime less ...enough is enough !!!! -
I'm with you on that. What makes me shake my head are these drivers who are working for $.25-.30 cents per mile. That's not even worth me getting out of bed. I've read here that some companies pay less than that and they got a line of suckers waiting to hop in the truck.

About 15 years ago, I took a QUICK break from pulling tankers, ( where we actually get paid for working ), and took a regional job hauling freight. I was in Pittsburgh, PA., picking up a load at Heinz. There where trucks parked everywhere around waiting to load ( not the problem). I was there for HOURS, with NO PAY. I started getting really really pissed off. I was by the shipping office, pacing, talking out load about the bull ####. I actually had 2 drivers come up to me, and said this is all part of the job, and this industry is not for everyone. I looked at them, and told them to their faces that its morons like you why things will never change.
To this day I remember that, and am at a loss for words why anyone would work hours on end for free. And accept it as "part of the job " -
These new drivers go through background checks, drug tests, and so on and pass all..... pass their CDL written and driving and need the experience behind the wheel to move on with a career. Some of these new guys have wifes and KidS to suport.
Large companys take advantage of these guys and gals in the worst way. to make it worse yet they will be working behind the wheel making a company big bucks so they as a company can underbid the ma and pops smaller company paying their new and old guys great money in comparrison. OUR GOVERMENT PROMOTED THIS ! I get sick thinking about it.
top it off with this - a certain large company has the balls to sideline these young student/training persons for days at a time over and over again while they find a trainer and or truck so they can arrange to make as much as possible with this trainee. the truck the trainee is on is going 24/7 keep in mind. this is all nothing new although taking advantage of the trainee IS (by the way they do it ). I figured it out one day and some of these students were out 2 to 4 weeks and while they were out they made less than 4.50 per hour. We can do so much better people. I think we are all in trouble, dont you all think these people in training yesterday and today are going to have attitudes ( BAD ) and should we blame them. we are not talking about 14 yearolds here. these are fine men and ladies that had no bad back ground, passed drug tests. OK some did and do make me wonder how ! lol. lets say most. I can bet you the company owners and their familys L O L about how they were able to pull all of this off. Gave them alot of power to treat all of us drivers just the way they want to. If yas dont like it their is the door...... its a tough fix but one worth doing , if doing do it right. I like a contract... and I like holding at 2000.00 a week and i dont care if my truck is rolling or not. I will not depend on the driver manager to do his job. my family is too important. If the company cannot keep me rolling i still get 2000.00. I go out do my job well/ best I can, on the 4th month i get 2 weeks pd vacation. and so on and so on.
they keep me rolling .... this forces the driver manager too be good at his job, and his boss finds out real quick if he is not. also they will not hire too many drivers because that would cost them too much in down time. -
Its a shameful insalt to someones ambitions and american dreams ,and then they go home while we keep em smiling
So far so good for them ....there should be a law against it ,but us drivers are good sports ,these rookies are UNINFORMED BUSINESSMEN ....they think "im just the driver " ,even as a company they don't read one book on how to do business -
There's old say....
"Can't keep the hogs out of the sloft " -
Us xpress is a breakdown company no miles hardly
-
There are some folks here who work for them, even teams like member TruckDuo.

The second drivers hang it up and refuse to work for these wages they'll just open up the borders and import workers that WILL work for these wages. Oh yeah, that's already happening, nevermind.
