Streaming shows and movies can eat up data really quick. What data plans are you guys getting success with? I'm thinking I'll need around 15g if not more. Thanks guys
what's the best way to use internet on the road?

Sprint unlimited data
Gunner75 Thanks this. -
Really the options for a trucker and internet are terrible...If you use the truck stop internet its always to slow to watch anything with and if your not close to the building it will constantly drop in and out...I have sprint and their network is decent but if using hot spot its capped ALL carriers have capped plans which is useless to truck drivers because we need unlimited! The best deal that comes to mind would be Either Millenicom http://millenicom.com/plans/ it runs of the Verizon network but is limited to 20 gigs a month at like 90$ which is better than paying verizon with a contract 140 a month or what i use http://www.wirelessnwifi.com/High-Limit-4G3G-Service which is alot more data 60gigs on LTE networks and 30gigs on 3g networks so 90gigs all together you can manually use either network through the desktop program on your laptop to get use of the full 90gigs. It runs off the sprint network and their LTE footprint is pretty large now and whats great is you can get LTE in rural areas where as a truck driver you will probably be often. LTE speeds are 20mbps while 3g speeds are 1 to 1.5 mbps. I hardly ever come close to going over and there aren't any overages for going over but if you do it often they will suspend your account for the remainder of the month. I would say I have LTE 70% of the time I run mostly the eastern half of the country. IMO this is your best opiton as a OTR driver sprint themselves don' offer anything over 12gigs for a hot spot but for some reason they allow re-sellers to offer better plans than they do themselves lol. hope this helped!

I haven't had a problem with using the pilot or flying J wifi. Ting wireless has really cheap data and t-mobile has a decent unlimited plan.
-
Tmobile isn't unlimited they like many other carriers have moved to mislead people by saying they are unlimited but at a certain usage point they throttle your speed down. Sprint's new plans are the same way you have to read the fine print though as the reps will never tell you this. If you have had sprint for a while unlimited when you re-up your contract keep the same plan even if its more expensive than the new plans because they will not throttle the old plans.Simpledriver Thanks this.

Your the man. Right on point

I have sprint unlimited, plus hotspot, on my phone. If I stream with the phone, I get pretty decent performance in a 4G area with regard to Netflix and Hulu. I can watch quite a few hours worth of shows before they start slamming me out. I only use the hot spot if I can't get wifi for my computer. So far, I haven't blown though any of my hotspot data buckets because I still use free/cheap wifi whenever I can get it.

I use my Verizon Phone as Hotspot.
I'm on the old unlimited plan (no longer available).
Don't use WiFi anywhere.
I try to use as much as I possibly can.
My max has been around 60gigs.
By the way.. Your best bet... Would have been to get on one of the Unlimited Plans from VZW or ATT when it was still availableX-Country Thanks this. -
Lol my best bet would have been to buy the winning lottery ticket last week before the other guy did 😄
