I understand and agree with you. Grown men complain to much when it comes to doing what it takes to get the job done. Now with that said, I believe that this is exactly what NEWNASHGUY is saying. He is telling us that he doesn't have AC in the middle of summer but is still rolling while half the industry quits cause this lifestyle might require them to have self discipline. I will also say that just because someone had to suffer 50 years ago doing a job, doesn't mean we can't speak up about it today. I bet that old schooler had a gripe or two back then and his granddaddy probably said "At lease you have a motorized vehicle to pull you around, I had to feed and water the horses that pulled me." It all goes in cycles.
People who quit trucking... what's the alternative?

So FREIGHTLINER tells you 2 weeks to get you in and you say your company doesn't care about you.Seems if they didn't care they wouldn't even let you go to Freightliner. If it's a new truck it's a warranty issue. So why is it your company that doesn't care.
FLATBED and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
The rear a/c doesn't work. I take that to mean the front a/c does work. Not seeing a big issue here.
As for the turnover much of it is 'within' the industry. Drivers chasing the green grass just help the next company show a high rate of turnover.blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
Just remember NNG, trucking is still one of the coolest jobs around, and the squeeky wheel get's the grease, find another dealer( maybe in a small town) get the A/C fixed. It will do wonders for the ol' attitude.Bret1984, TexasHarleyBoy, road_runner and 3 others Thank this. -
If it's warranty issue , then I would wager that the dealership where the truck was purchased would at the very least supply your company with a tractor of at least comparable value , maybe even greater , to keep your company coming back to purchase more equipment in the future.....you know exercise some really "good customer service".....tinytim makes a good point too.....if the a/c in the front of the cab works , that would keep you comfortable enough to sleep.
Hi NNG, actually, that's a big problem, as once you do trucking, everything else, job wise, is less than appealing. I'm struggling with that right now. I'm too young to retire (59 1/2) and too old to pound the pavement. I know, if I commit to a trucking job again, they will run me ragged, and there's limited opportunities for a part-time driver, as I'm not the only one in this position. If you find an answer, please let me know, and don't say, "Go back to school", as I hated school, which is why I became a truck driver in the first place.
If you want part time work, what about Roehl with their work 14 and 7 off, or however they have it set up.Wild Murphy and road_runner Thank this. -

Or if you're close to GB CTS is looking for shuttle drivers for P&G

Think about the options between whatever and trucking, take trucking out of the equation. There are the options I'm sure they are different for each person.
Wild Murphy and "semi" retired Thank this.
