I've been through a couple of bad accidents, fortunately never in a big truck, and fortunately never my fault.

Whether you are at fault or not, its a horrible experience to have to endure.

You got really lucky no one was hurt, in the end this will be a GOOD experince for you.

Why would I say that? Because the lessons you learn from this experience will be far more valuable than the bit of twisted steel and fiberglass that have to be replaced out of this ordeal, and you will find in the future it greatly affects the way you drive. It will make a even better more professional driver out of you.

Just don't let it control your life and make you afraid to get back in the saddle!

Glad to hear you are ok, keep us posted.

Oh and P.S. and by the way I was at MHC Kenworth in Denver, they had several 660's in there with studio sleepers on them.

Someone told me MHC were over priced. I see their ads on truckpaper all the time.

I heard through a close source that Coopersburg KW in PA has a couple. One in particular that has my interest. 525 ISX, 18 spd, 3.25 rear end ratio, 150 gal tanks with apu and bunk heater. All it needs is a headache rack and I would be golden. Its a 2011 with just over 400k and source says I can get it at a very respectable price.

Showed pictures of my truck to the guy I bought it from. He says its probably totaled due to the cost of repairs it will need. Agent is supposed to go look at on Monday. On my way home in rental car atm. Tried to eat omlet at Dennys. Nerves are so shot I just ralphed it up in the parking lot. I think some time off will do me good. Been running hard to get money back in the bank. This business is tough. Just when you think your ahead... poof.. murphy grabs you back down.

I'll know more in a couple weeks. Give me some time to really assess what I want to do.

Aint that the truth. Some time off will do you good.

I suggest you go spend some time sitting in a hot tub if you can. They are good for the nerves.

I do when danger is ahead.
It keeps my ### out of trouble and safe.

Do not dispair... it is a life learning experience ... something you will never forget...
You must learn by your error and you will become a better driver.

It is indeed a hard lesson to learn and a up hill battle from hear on, but no worries you will come threw with flying colors and a stronger mind set.

I say put some time on your motor cycle or atv if you got one... better yet a horse back ride will do you wounders or a row boat ride in a calm pond with nature all around you.

I was stuck in your traffick in BR

As far as loading heavy, we haul steel about 90%. They want you to be able to scale 48000 anything over 48 they pay extra same as with the extra 5 foot of trailer, if it needs more than a 48 ' trailer they pay extra. Same as the wide loads. With my combo I could only scale 48 k. With 1/2 tank of fuel which was easy to do. And most loads do weigh around 45k. But you can bet your ### if you top off with fuel , the. They would have the 48k load. Regardless of all of that I am always 2500 lbs lighter than what I used to be.
I also think you would be really pushing to get 48k on the step much less 50k.

Nope nothing,... I had about 1/4 mi clear in front of me as I headed up the hill,.. grabbing gears the whole time. We had just passed the sign the says end truck lane restrictions. I saw the left lane open and took it. I heading to a load paying $5800 to go from Baton Rouge to Denver. Easy run. I wanted to get loaded. Get showers and dinner. Sleep for the night and head out in the morning. 1200 mi run with a Monday drop and another load heading to St Louis after I dropped. The money was finally coming in good.

Sad thing is that I Know better than to approach a blind hill and take it for granted that the other side will be clear. You come over these hills so many times and you just assume it will be fine. With the miles we run,.. it was only a matter of time before something like this happened. The odds are stacked against us. My emotions are holding me hosted. I will never be the same after this. My wife says I am experiencing post traumatic stress. All I know is that I feel lower than cow poop because this was 100% my fault and I know better. I know the risks, I know the consequences, I know how badly this could have turned out.

I'm not really a religious person, but I find myself paying and saying thanks because I know it could have been a very serious tragedy if things didnt go exactly how they went. There was about a 75ft drop off the bridge had I managed to put it over the rail. I'm sure my wife and I would have both been killed. But that was my intention rather than to kill someone else who just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Instead they all approached me, to ask if I was ok. All I could do was break down and cry. I bawled like a baby. Instead of cursing and screaming at me, they showed compassion and understanding. Not sure if I would have done the same. Thats rare in this country.

Yeah man, I'm sorry. Once the state police got there they closed it down. And I know the traffic on that bridge with no exits had to be backed up for miles. It sucked when I crossed and that was just from the rain.

As for weight,.. I dont need to scale more than 48k. I'm doing fine now with only being able to scale 46.5k. So its not imperative,.. I just like to have the wiggle room to be able to carry 46k - 47k and not sweat my fuel.
