Do you have any experience handling cattle, if not, I would suggest you get that first . It is very dangerous inside those trailers. Trust me I grew up around cattle and pulled a bull wagon for 4 years out of Florida. Would do it again in a heartbeat.
streetglider Thanks this. -
Yes that is a different style of driving, you always have to watch the way you brake and shift and turn. you wont last long throwin those girls all over the back of the trailer. little rest until you are unloaded and you are responsible for any cow that dies. Fun job but also lot of responsibility and if you don't know what your doing those cows will get you between the gates and squish your but lol. one thing for sure your backing skills will improve because once you learn to hit those chutes at night in the rain without leaving a gap for a leg to fall in you have done well. ps always keep your boots and coveralls outta the cab.

Does the cattle stay in the trailer when the driver is on his 10?
-
Yeah, 'cause it only takes about five minutes to do a ten. LOL
CanePole, HotH2o and fortycalglock Thank this. -
You gotta be a little bit "special' to pull a bull wagon. Those drivers are something else.
-
Not if you leave the gate open! I have even seen some of them walking the parking lots at night.

However long it takes to tear a page out & start over is your 10 hour break.HotH2o and Ditch Doctor Thank this.

when I did it we ran teams, 5 in the seat 5 in the sleeper, there was no time to stop when you running from south fla, to west Texas to much weight to be lost from the ride and nervous cows. you get paid on the weight delivered. I have seen solo drivers unload in mid ride at certain stops made for cattle haulers but we never did. we would run sales all week and take the cows back to one central point then on Friday we would load and go west to the feedlots of west Texas. once in a while we would haul kill cows to the Carolinas for butchering.
