Yep, both NY & NJ continue to gouge drivers and they also continue to have some of the worst roads in the country. Makes no sense as the justification for both tolls and fuel taxes are to maintain infrastructure.
I know alot of owner-ops from both states that avoid the toll roads at all cost due to having to spend how many extra cents per mile to use these potholled wridden excuses for highways?
It's only gonna get worse unless the system privatizes and get's the gov't out of this business(among others). Won't ever happen though. -
This makes *perfect* sense!
Nobody's using our toll roads, so we'll hike the tolls. And we'll say it's to cover repairs, but we all know the money is going to go downstate and vanish.
I know that when I'm traveling, I *always* look for routes around toll roads - and this was before I got my CDL. I imagine it's going to get more and more crowded on the secondaries.
They keep this up and pretty soon only the military (and other government activity) will be the only traffic on the big roads. -
The NYS Tway was originally built specifically for Military Vehicles to transport stuff from upstate directly into the city, a direct pipleline if you will.
Other roads around the country were built on the same premise and remember too that alot of U.S. interstates are modeled after the German Autobahn, which was Hitlers way of moving his military vehicles around the country.
