Total fixed cost($577) includes my truck payment. FSC this week is 42cpm. Deadhead is 71cpm this week. Also just got a 7.5% increase in our rates for the new quarter.

you should of bought it ... meaning ... pay it off and run as long as you can with no truck payment ... good luck

Guess your reading comprehension isn't the greatest. In my OP I laid out why I choose to venture into what I think is best called an experiment. I wasn't happy with my income at Knight and have several job offers but am not in a position to go out and buy a truck at this time. Since it's a walk away lease I choose to see if I could earn more money at Knight by renting a truck right now. If it doesn't work out I walk away and drive a different truck tomorrow.
Update, Filled up today in Fernley before heading into Cali. fuel mileage was 7.945 for 540 miles. That raised my average since I got the truck to 6.99. Had to pull Donner today with a 41k load and still manage to end the day with 7.0 on the instant read fuel mileage gauge which so far has been 2/10th lower then my actual mileage. First settlement is Tuesday. I'm not expecting much because of the 2.5 days in the shop and I fueled on Friday before the cut off in order to get cheap fuel in SLC. That cheap fuel buy should set me up for a decent settlement a week from next Tuesday. Oh and I actually got my bonus last quarter as a company driver - $550 and it pays out on Wednesday.AfterShock, 88 Alpha and JimDucan Thank this. -
I misspoke earlier, our increase in rates made our rates 7.5% above our base, not a 7.5% increase. Here's the new rates for the new quarter.
*1-275 miles: $1.291/mile
*276-550: $1.076/mile
*551+: $.968JimDucan and AfterShock Thank this. -
That's not bad for a total cost per week.KingG239 Thanks this.

that's actually pretty horrible.. and them only giving FSC on loaded miles is b.s.. i guess that's a van deal.. when i was hoping from company driver to o/o i called them because they were good to me when i was there and told them what i wanted to do.. they told me i'd have to talk to a different recruiter.. nothing that lady told me was good.. but i guess it's a good start if you can't get traditional financing..
I'm at $375 a week, and most of that is my truck payment, i only owe about $50 a week back to the company. and as large as Knight is, the fuel discount should about about $0.20 a gallon. They're obviously holding alot of that back.. If it's only $0.05 then they're only giving you the cash price difference which is something they already get for using a fuel card. -
Yeah, the Fuel Surcharge bit has me a bit baffled, not only are they holding back on what they are charging the customer, but they are also holding back on discount. Unless they want to tell us they are getting a worse discount than Maverick gives the public for using a Black Card!

i know people always said van rates are horrible, but i doubt they can be that bad.. i mean there are companies paying alot better but drivers still haul van with crap rates. i don't get it.

Oh no, Knight is holding a lot back on those mileage rates as well, short haul they are holding mucho bucks back. Hell, that's why Knight jumped into the short haul market, you make more for less effort.
