I have a cobra 29 classic I seem to be only getting like a 1/4 mile radius which I think sucks. I have been to a cb shop in OH near the a PA line I think it was at a petro. They adjusted the antenna on the truck and made some adjustment w/ the radio. When they did a radio check w/me it did sound good .Now I relise it was cause i was right outside there door. So my question is what do I need to get done to increase that radius And what is the norm. I have seen the section about cbs I didnt find it helpful.

Many things effect your range. Seasonal sunspots etc etc. While that's no fault of the equipment. It could be a factor. It's not at this time. You should be getting at least 3-5 miles.
Every piece within your set-up effects the end results. Quality of coax, antenna, grounding, static from the engine, static from the roadbed. The list goes on and on.
Just make sure you find a reputable shop. -
thats the problem too . Finding a truck stop wit a cb shop .That is a task in itself and then do you have time to get it done. Thanks for the help maybe a list of truck stops with cb shops would help. I seem to keep running trough PA,IL,MO,TX,OH, most consitantly. Got any ideas of cb shops in those areas/

They're the only ones I trust to get the job done right the first time. -

If you are heading East, exit 70 off of 80. Bob's CB shop. He's OK and an #######, I heard.

I have heard from another person that the grand island shop sucks too.
I went to the one next to the Ontario,CA TA West side. That guy hacked my radio. Everyone sounded distorted. I then went to the road runner shop in Eugene,OR EXT 199 off I-5 He said the radio was calibrated to high I was transmitting on 19 and be ing picked up on 23 .He fixed my radio and showed me how to tune the radio myself.
