I've been reading the oilfield forum for a long time. The one thing I have picked up on is, the people working in the oilfield are the people who GO to the oilfield.
So if you are there, stay persistent. You'll get hired. If you need a job offer before you can head out, it may be awhile before you get started.Patrickm213 and FlorenceJeanCastleberry Thank this. -
Yep it took 3 weeks from apply to hire. For me with mission petroleum. Had to take vaca time to drive out to texas to take drug and physical. Just keep at it apply to multiple companies. Web site indeed.com good place to search crude oil driving texas.

Meh. I'm not paid by the barrel or load, but hourly. If I am stuck awaiting a winch truck to get me up a hill, I am still making that $24/hr. Year-round work.
And free medical. And free dental. And free life insurance. And 401(k) match.
If'n you ain't a #####, get on up here in the cold. Its where the money is.Wymon and FlorenceJeanCastleberry Thank this. -
I definitely would have had a job sooner if I had just gone to the field first. Trying from outside and keeping my income flowing delayed it. Not that it was the wrong choice.. just keep in mind whenbyoubstart getting frustrated

i did alaska oil field work done with ice roads frozen trucks roads. And waiting for steam crews to melt pumps. I sat one shift for 10 hrs. Not worth it to sit. Everyone has there choice. I did it up north now staying in the south.

Not too bad in North Dakota if you dress in layers and play it smart. Always funny when the first dusting of snow hits or the temps drop and people just leave in droves until the next year.
