If they demand you wake up your co driver remind them that if you do so that means your co-driver has to take the whole 10 hour break all over again and you can't drive an additional 10 hours allowing them to take the new 10 hours.
They have no right to demand that you wake your co driver and break up the govt mandate of the HOS except in an emergency. BE POLITE.. Your logs will show your co-driver hours. Now if the cop has no common sense or doesn't know that page 4 comes after page 3 then all is a moot point at the inspection. Just take notes of name ,badge number location and time and attitude. They may ask why ? I tell them I need it for my report. What report? I tell them nicely that they don't know me , only what the 26 -27 tells them. Haven't had to do that in a few years now.
Had a cop in VA ask me for my logs after he pulled me behind the scale and ask me what time I started.? I told him somewhere about 0600 . He stated again what time? I figured what the hell. I smiled and said Sir, with all due respect, I don't have a dispatcher to tell me what time I did something ,and Sir the law requires me to write it down , I don't have to remember every thing. After that things went well. I passed inspection , He shook my hand .He handed me a business card and told me if I needed anything to come see him. Attitude is every thing.
Some times you can tell them their idiots and they won't know what you said for two weeks.
Are Scale Houses getting tougher to deal with?

I was inspected last week in OH. Guy was on the on ramp on I-70 40 miles east of Columbus. He went after me, turned his light on and escorted me to rest area. He did level 2 and i had 1 violation, having log books older then 3 weeks. Thats second time in last two years that dot pulls me over to rest area, i wasn't speeding or anything, just random check.
-
What do you mean, logs older than 3 weeks. ?
Winkjr Thanks this. -
Im on paper logs,so every 2-3 weeks i hand my logs to my company, but girl who does all that was on vacation since begining of may so I kept all my logs with me. He told me that i can't have original logs older then 2 or 3 weeks. I can have copies but originals goes to company.

That's what I'm wondering.

Send them in every 2 weeks. rulings on that are clear or don't let them see them. Tear them out and put in a big envelope or hidden somewhere .Never let them see more than the last 7 to 10 days, NEVER. Next time just put them on her desk. Mail them in . Sorry driver but I think you earned that ticket.

I got stopped at the northbound scales in Roanoke. Officer told me I was 800 over on my drives and if I had room to slide my tandems. I did. He told me to adjust and pull back on the scale. If I got the green light I was free to go. I slid, scaled and got the green. Took all of ten minutes out of my day.

They were open yesterday. Took forever to get through. Reminded me of Banning with the line of trucks they had. They had a couple oil field guys out back trying to move some equipment around. I guess they were overweight.

I got a break from the guys in Raton, NM on this rule last year. I had 17 days in my book and he told me to take out a weeks worth and put them in my pocket. Hasn't happened again. It's kind of a silly rule for me because I am the carrier and safety man so technically I did turn them in to myself. Needless to say I didn't argue the point and pulled them logs out quick and said thank you.
