Yes you're supposed to pretrip when you switch drivers. Post trip too but if the co-driver will be doing a pretrip there is really no point.
GenericUserName Thanks this. -
#### it im doing pre and post every day to be safe.
-
Yes you technically are required too. You show post trip and team member shows pre-trip. Its wise to go over it together. That way you and team mate know whats gone on and so forth.

Depends on company policy on how to log it. There is no regulation you have to log both. When I drove team the company required a minimum 15 mins pre and post. Kinda silly.

And when you do your vir at the end of the day,you must be on duty when you do it.

Logging it VS. actually doing it is what you're talking about, right ? Forget the logging aspect (you can flag it if it's under 7 min or incorporate it in with fueling) as a truck driver RESPONSIBLE truck driver that is, you want to check your equipment every chance you get. Don't be lazy.

I assume you are just a driver, become an owner and then a business owner then you will see what regulations are really like.
By the way, for those who think it is so tough now, the crap that drivers go through now aside, we have actually a lot more control over things than we did in say 1980.
