Not WCG, I was at a company that expanded to the area, and looks like they may have closed up shop, google's not showing them around anymore :/
Edit: It might have been WCG - I can't remember the name exactly, it's been awhile - if it is them they've undergone a brand change, used to be blue, now it's red. Once I find the hat or shirt they gave me I'll have a solid answer.
Are there any expedite/courier companies you can make decent money at?

Following up, it was WCG. I made out alright over there, but the DH miles were killing me, so I had to give it up. Overall, I have no complaints with them, and was there only a short time so I might have not gotten the gravy. Good luck whatever you do!

Oh ok, I am signing on with them tomorrow. I talked with them last week and they didn't promise me the world just showed my settlements of other O/Os. Seemed decent so I'll give it a try. How much did they have you deadheading? How much longer distance stuff do they have? Thanks.

If it is the same company, I had runs to Sterling IL, and over into Indiana a few times, other than that it was Lake County down to say Joliet, or Kankakee, then they'd deadhead me back to EGV alot. I was setup with some nice routes delivering custom cabinets to places like Lowes or HD but that was only a few times. PM me who you deal with tomorrow - I bet the same guys still run the show there if they changed branding or whatever.

Actually cargo vans are the top feeders at courier companies as they only have a handful of them as most couriers drive little fuel efficient econo-boxes. They can haul everything a car can plus the bigger/heavier loads. All in all though it's a crappy job.Last edited: Jul 31, 2014

So it didn't work out for ya there? I ended up in the same boat myself, too many DH miles to pickups that didn't pay all that well. Good luck none the less!

No I am still here at least for now. The job can be very rough at times lugging all these heavy boxes up and down stairs and sitting in the misery of Chicago traffic. However as far as courier companies go this place is creme de la creme. They pay fairly (at least compared to other courier outfits) and provide you with a work phone for free.
However I was thinking about it the other night and came to the conclusion that these companies have quite a racket going. They have you use your vehicle, have you assume virtually all the expenses and risk, and classify you as an "independent contractor" with no employee benefits or health insurance. Then to add insult to injury you're left holding the bag at tax time for the 1099 income which can be thousands of dollars. Not to mention your vehicle is run down and needs a ton of work from all the abuse of daily hard running.Last edited: Jul 31, 2014

It is possible as I have done it several times, my best day was $400 gross. But it only happens once in a blue moon.

If you do it consistently than yes it happens but $300 a day every day - nope. Been there, done that.

Agreed, who did you run for btw?
