take it to a Cummings dealer, if you can find one. Otherwise, a Cummins dealer can help.

Why is it Cumming slow and pumping air, as your subject suggests? When you can accept the fact that you own a Cummins engine and not a Cummings engine, we can talk mechanics.

Carbon plugged/kinked main discharge line. Turbo actuator solenoid or turbo actuator will leak only when the engine is running so you may not be able to hear it.
solomekon Thanks this. -
unloader valve sticking maybe? i wouldn't think that with a new compressor but i suppose its possible. otherwise maybe the purge valve on the dryer, but then again you say that you replaced the dryer as well. check the air line very closely from the compressor to the dryer and dryer to the first air tank for leaks. a leak there will only be noticeable while the engine is running and compressing air, witch would then make it harder to hear it. you may take the line off the compressor screw a fitting to it and charge it with shop air.

that would be a last resort. the air compressor system will be 3rd party pieces any way. bendex, haladex, tru-flo ect.baha Thanks this.

Possibly discharge line from compressor to drier has hole or u have an issue with the turbo valve on drier make sure u check for air leaks when the truck is running cuz otherwise u won't be able to tell also turboactuator could be leaking as well

When's the last time you did a basic air compressor cleaning? Start with the simple stuff first. You'll need a 9/16" wrench, I think a 1-1/16" wrench... and the last one, maybe 1-5/16"? I just use a large crescent wrench for that one.
Disconnect the lines, run it... if you don't have a problem holding your thumb up to plug the discharge hole, your compressor isn't doing what it's supposed to. Spray some PB or WD 40 into the inlet, let it discharge, follow up with some brake cleaner, repeat those steps a couple times.
It's a routine maintenance procedure.. wish I had the foresight to anticipate this thread, or I'd have taken photos, since I had to do one today. It might do it, it might not.. if a cleaning doesn't do it for you, you might have to replace the compressor head. But, do the simple stuff first.JohnC123, Jasmin80 and Snailexpress Thank this. -
