I'm a local intermodal driver home every single night and off two days a week. The majority of drivers at my terminal work Monday through Friday and are off weekends. Most local driving jobs you are off weekends. If you get a shift where you are not off weekends give it a year two most and you can get a shift where you work Monday to Friday. A lot of regional trucking jobs you work Monday through Friday and get back home for the weekend. You do not I repeat do not have to automatically become and OTR driver after you get your cdl. That is one of the biggest myths about truck driving.

If you live in Arkansas you definitely could get home almost every weekend with Maverick flatbed. They are headquartered in Little Rock. I started there recently and it really is a great company.

I'm home every night and have most weekends off. I stay in the truck about 5-8 days a month. Make good money too. If the job you want exists you're going to have to do more than fill out online applications. They do exist. For the most part the best jobs are not advertised. Best of luck to you!
