    What kind of rigs does swift have for you when you get your own truck? and are they standard transmissions or can you get autoshifts?

    Real drivers shift their own gears and not let the truck tell them what to do.:biggrin_25525:

    no i wanna shift but my wife isnt that great at it and we are a team. is the autoshift like a automatic in a car? or does it tell you which gear to be in and you still have to shift

    " The clutch is used only for starting" that part right there is the part that my wife cant do lol. do you have to work the throttle like a regular standard tranny?

    There is a video on Fuller's site and from what I recall, once you get going you just drive it like a 4 wheeler with an auto.

    Me personally, I prefer to shift the gears myself. But that's just me oh, and two sticks are better than one btw:biggrin_25523:

    All right now, you have the Eaton Fuller autoshift and the Eaton Fuller Ultrashift. Yes you have to use the throttle just like you would normally. The autoshift has a clutch that you do have to use during take off and stopping. The Ultrashift does not have a clutch pedal, the clutch is a centrifugal style clutch meaning that when the rpm picks up to a certain speed it engages. They both shift slow. They both are not as good as what a manual would be on a hill, but then you don't have to worry about missed shifts with these transmissions either. They do have a manual mode on them. You basically push a up or down button for shifting, but the engine has to be within a certain parameter before it will let you shift up or down. I believe that the last one I drove it had to be above 1500 rpm to up shift and below 1300 rpm to down shift. If you down shift and the rpms pick up above 1500 rpm in auto mode it will then up shift. You can sometimes shift manually with it in auto mode. So times it will not let you. I have found that if you use a manual trans vs an auto that you can get to a top of a hill 5-10 mph faster because you can pick a gear that it says it is running to high a rpm in a manual but not an auto. I hope this helps you out.

    Sorry, forgot to mention the meritor auto and the allison automatic. The meritor is similar to the eaton except that you have a paddle that you have to move for it to shift. Foward is up shift backwards is down shifting. Allison automatics are just like a car. Set it to drive and go.
