Running with JCT, Part Deux

Figure closer to 3,000 miles avg per week. Fuel surcharge this week is $.43, but you can fuel for under $3.75/gal avg. The biggest thing that I see here is your MPG est. at 6.5. You can easily beat that. I averaged 7.2 mpg last summer in a 2012 Cascadia running 65 mph all the time. Now I have a 2014 Evolution and I'm averaging nearly 8 mpg. You can beat those numbers if you want to drive under 60.

On my truck, my variable payment is $.20/mile (APU included) and my weekly fixed costs are $293.57. For a 3500 mile week at 6.5 mpg with fuel at $3.75/gal my spreadsheet says that I'll make $1371.62. That's right in line with your numbers. At 7.5 mpg that jumps to $1637.26! That's $.47/mile. At my goal of 8 mpg and 3000 miles per week we're looking at $1453.93 or $.48/mile. Last week I ran over 3300 miles at 8.3 mpg, so these numbers are doable.

I've heard good things about Schneider's Choice program too. I would want to know more about what trucks they have available. JCT has tons of new and very low mileage trucks, and none of them look like pumpkins, lol.

Thought I was hallucinating, Parked In Wells, NV tonight and there is a very shiny(looks brand new) white Mack all dressed up in JCT colors. Test truck or a one off? Or are they getting macks?

 

We have 2 Mack trucks as test trucks on the fleet. They came on the fleet in May.

 

Absolutely! Hit me up on JCT Drivers United. I just posted on there about my JCT Shippers List that I did on Excel. I input nearly 300 of the shippers that I've been to along with notes on overnight parking, GPS corrections, and more. I think that it will be a useful program for those of us with AARP cards, lol.

Will do. I have been making my spread sheet over the course of 4 months. I think I have it going good, just need to forced myself to sit down and complete it.

Wow, just realized I have been with JCT for 4 months now. Man, the time flew by. Seems longer, but in a good way.

 

Not sure if you guys are aware or not, but there is a spreadsheet already available. It is tailored to the exact expenses and payroll format that JCT uses. There is a manual paper version you can fill out by hand and there is am Excel version with calculations embedded so all you have to do is is input numbers and the math is automatic. You can completely balance a settlement on 30 seconds.

 

There is also a fuel sheet for diesel and DEF, quarterly miles and log book calculations.
