Why do so many Americans hate European trucks?

Cody,there are trains allready running from EU to China.
But the price is the killer,the ship is much cheaper.
So unless it is timesensitive,containership rules.

Also a lot off "OTR" in Eu is done "intermodual" meaning a combination off truck,train and ship.

 

many of those loads for east are for nato, so in this case you must avoid russia and iran , so route becomes much more complicated and truck become easiest solution , and money is not problem those trips, normal trip from germany to kirgystan is about 14500€/19500$(about half are for expenses) , this include 4500km to baku and than ferry ( one way 1000$)to aktau than about 3000km to bishkek ,

also problem to get load back, some were driving beans to macedonia for 5000€

for deep russia, most of trucks are driving fruits and vegetables so time is again important

 

There is a weekly freight train from Antwerp (Belgium) to China. The problem is that the railway gauge in Russia is wider than in the rest of Europe (former Soviet Union countries excluded), so the containers have to be moved from European railway cars to Russian ones.

 

You are not quite right here.. All they do to those trains just change axles.. It is done to all trains passenger and freight ones..

 

Cant imagine they'll change the axles mid journey, surely it would be easier swop the containers

For passenger cars, yes. But don't you think that is much easier to move a container from one freight car to an other, than to lift the car up and replace the boogies?

It does not take long to change axles.. On passenger trains it takes minutes and I do not think it takes much longer for freight trains

 

It is certainly possible, but I seem to remember that they moved the containers. But it has been several months when I read about this train service.
