There is no driver shortage. There is just a "lousy job" surplus with diminishing unemployment in the rest of the private sector. Overburdensome rules HOS, nitpicky inspections, PSP, CSA all add up to "IT JUST NOT WORTH IT" for many with some actual expertise in the field. So, what you might be seeing is a skilled driver shortage. Add in the potential for one truck OOs to be required to have an EOBR, and you'll have a stampede for the door, leaving the high turnover bottom feeder sector to carry on.

I understand that there are alot of lousy jobs out there and alot of companies that just wanna throw meat in a seat... But as far as driver shortage goes... It'll get worse, with the baby boomers retiring and alot of my generation not seeming to wanna grow up and get a job and be fathers and husbands like they're supposed to they're setting the next generation up to be just like em or worse... I'm just telling you its going to get worse... Much worse than what it already is. Companies like swift are going to go under most likely because they won't have the drivers to fill their trucks, heck that's already happening.. Swifts stock fell 14% because they didn't have and still don't have enough drivers to fill there trucks. Don't believe me? Look it up...

I would think they would be struggling if their business model tries to operate on a +/- 100% turnover rate for new hires.

Polls....................ugh. It's hard to boil down the issues at play in terms that neatly fit the choices given in the poll; so...........guess I'll pass.
