I went to "orentaion" with a guy with no tank experience, just 18 years doing flatbed. then they made us team together for a few days to get a truck for him

I made it out of McAllen with a load of lime juice going to California. Spent a day and a half in McAllen.

There really isn't any need for training here as long as you don't take turns and curves too fast. You wouldn't do that with any other type of trailer so I don't know why anyone would do it with a tank. You don't do ANY unloading here whatsoever, so there's nothing in that department to train you for. You just have to get used to the way you have to drive with a tank, the way you have to shift gears, and the surge. The tank is only 42 feet (a box is 53) so it's easier to back into a parking spot.

Alright I'm taking the leap I'll be starting IRT on mon. I've been looking at oakley, Bynum and IRT for over a year. I live here in winter haven so I've been able to talk to a lot of drivers and to be honest all but a few drivers I've spoken too have been happy with all the company's above so I'm kinda going on my gut feeling on IRT I used to haul for prime tanker division and loved it went to refer side for a year with a small local company and hated it and have been driving local for past 5 mo and not making enough money. So jumping back in and looking forward to meeting some of the posters on this thread in the future. If anyone could give me any info on what to expect during orientation and in the next few weeks of starting

Spring Chicken and xlsdraw Thank this.
