Parked at the Blytheville AR rest stop off 55. Gonna grab some sleep and probably pull out the Forman and grill a couple chicken breasts with some rice for dinner. Heading out late tonight for a very early morning delivery in Dothan, AL.

As Packrat said . They may not have gone through the trouble to actually subpoenaed the truck stop for video and so forth.

I dont know , but if I was running paper logs and useing a pencil with an eraser , I would stay away from places to park like that , that have cameras I mean. Not to mention I would probably pay cash for everything .
I would have probably parked at a rest area and flagged it as parked on a on or off ramp ( because no proof )

Not trying to sound like I am trying to tell you how to drive or what ever ( I have less then a yr experience ) but I would get a bit more creative with my flags , locations on the book. Almost creative enough so that I believe it myslef .:biggrin_2559:

or how about just trying to run it as close to legal as possible.

Hell I ain't no angel, nor will claim I am. Granted if I can limp down the road without tripping the elog then I'm going to do so.

Taking a 6 hour break and fudging fuel times? Not so much...not in this day and age. It is just too easy to trace things if they want to dig deep enough. For a routine inspection, probably not, but get involved in a serious accident then all bets are off. They will backtrack your route, what time you passed scales, what time you fueled, what time you went through a tollbooth, what time you checked into the shipper, what time you #### and the list goes on.

And trust me the company won't have your back. When I ran paper for Marten I was encouraged to run illegal but make it look right on paper. I did cause I was new and was afraid to say no. After a few months I had a minor backing incident and was fired...why?...because safety audited my logs and found discrepancies. Go figure.

Just another case of dispatch saying do one thing, and safety saying do something different. Happens in most companies. Or at least it used to. Maybe now with the on board recording logs, that will change some. Though I wouldn't bet on it.

Yeah , I see what your saying . Run legal. I was just giving for instance , if I were to try and pull something like that off what I would do.

Hell I cant really say a whole lot about running illegal since I have a babysitter in my truck , but i'll tell ya what , if I am gonna do it . I am gonna think of everything. Like I said , I would make it look good enough even I would believe it.:biggrin_25524:

Moral of all this is just stay legal but we all know sometimes you need to bend a rule or two because of issues that come up.

    Stay safe and stay legal.

P.s. can my screen name be tracked to me in any way ?:biggrin_2559:

18-Wheeler Slams Into Fire Truck; One Firefighter Killed

It was around 6 am when I passed by... First saw a day cab semi that seemed to be yellow... but the pic on the news shows Orange... then saw a van totally burnt and destroyed... then saw a few firetrucks... one had its front damaged and the bumper on the ground... there were lots of folks, firefighters, police, folks dressed in yellow, paramedics... and someone said on the CB, "I think someone died..." :biggrin_2554::biggrin_2557: The traffic jam at that time was from exit 88 up to 96... I pick up a load in IN and then went back south on I-65... Stopped at Pilot in Lebanon Junction to get info about the road and shower... Was told that the road was just cleared at 15:00... Saw firefighter trucks holding huge American flags on several overpasses on I-65... no pictures... lots of firefighter trucks everywhere, combo of firefighter trucks and police cars and all.... looked like a procession... Drove by the location of accident and saw on the ground the marks where firefighter was killed... very sad, very very sad... :biggrin_2557::biggrin_2557: My prayers go to those involved... RIP firefighter Jonathan French who died today in line of duty... :biggrin_2557:

Now parked at a rest area in TN.... You all be safe...
