r&l is a great company I have family who works there and I've spoken to them I do not want to run the way they do I have nothing agents them I've been working the local gig up at 2am home 3-4 pm #### shower And do it again your 2 days off you spend trying to catch up on all the things you put off during the week. I much rather be over the road and take my chunk of time off at one time local is great but all in all it's less money and a whole lot more work but you are at home every night or day what ever your shift may be. But this is my choice and ill probably down the road get tired of being OTR and do the local thing and go back OTR lol

The recruiter. I know a driver there and there and he's happy he does mostly local stuff some over night but that's about all he does he's been there for several years said he did ok over the road avg about 8-900 a week Otr As far as the recruiter goes I got the feeling she was blowing lots of smoke up my arse to get me in the door I could be wrong but gut feeling and it's right most of the time.

I've been closely comparing IRT to Bynum and last night I decided to make a list and put it all on paper. What both offer, what they don't offer, etc. and I discovered something. Compared to Bynum...IRT doesn't have very much going for it except a slightly higher mileage pay rate. I have my own satellite radio and I can always get my own fridge. Bynum pays detention, has APUs, has prepass, their insurance for one person is 1/4 of the cost of IRT's insurance, they don't assign sections of the country to different terminals like IRT does because they only have one terminal. All the areas that winter haven drivers almost never see because either Clovis or Turlock has those areas covered....that problem doesn't exist at Bynum. They got rid of all their Macks because of the problems they were having with Mack's regen system and replaced them with cascadias. After doing the research I've been doing I don't see myself going back to IRT. I'll still post on here and I wish you guys that are with them the best of luck

You're not disqualified from working elsewhere. You're just restricted to automatic transmissions. Why anyone would test in an auto is beyond my comprehension.

That's tanker work from what I've seen at prime that's not the norm though most of the time your in and out might have to wait a little while at tank wash but not bad most of the time. And I've never had to wait on a load unlike reefer side. On reefer side I had to wait for my apt time Almost always was way early had to wait for hrs on a door then wait hrs for lumpers then wait on paper work then wait to get a wash out and then wait on a load so there's waiting for free on both sides that I've been on and dentition pay is a pain to get most of the time. I found I did far less waiting on tanker side then reefer and my dispatcher always made it up to me if I had to wait too long or maybe I just have on rose colored glasses.

Spring Chicken I like your post. You touched on some good points. I will tell you guys, my time at IRT hasn't been flawless. I had to stay on dispatch in order to get my home time. When I got it, I took 4 days. On Thursday last week I called in requesting to be sent back out. They told me to call back in the morning. When I did, they told me to call back that afternoon. When I was finally told to go to McAllen I got there on Sunday. I sat. Still no load. So Monday afternoon I got upset. I had been off work for 8 days. 4 were by choice. I decided to throw in the towel. I simply left and headed towards San Antonio. My plan was to clean out my truck then return it to Clovis. I got about 2 hours from McAllen close to 3 Rivers and my Qualcomm received a message saying call Angel Jr we have a load for you. Then another message saying call Steve F. ASAP. I waited until I got to San Antonio then called Steve. He was nice and said he saw I left McAllen and asked what was up. I told him I had been 8 days without work with only 4 of those days being my choice. I told him I was happy with IRT and the first month on the job was great with great miles, but I felt as if the carpet was jerked out from under me. He apologized and asked me not to quit and said they would make it right. I told him I needed to discuss it with my wife first so we agreed that I would take 10 or 15 minutes then call him back. My wife and I decided to give it another shot. When I called Steve back he told me he was the director of human resources and if there were any future problems let him know. He assured me he wants to take care of his drivers and his line is open if I ever need to talk about a problem whether its home time, miles, or even if I just need to vent about something. As it is, I went back and got a trailer at the border and have brought it out here to California. I'm glad I gave it a second chance and I appreciated the concern they showed towards a driver. Just wanted to share that experience with you guys. I don't think the company is without flaws, but then again.. what company is? I think they made an honest mistake and I am taking them for their word that it won't happen again.

Steve F was the director of maintenance when I was there. He's been known to be a real a-hole
