air compressor puking oil out the inlet

As the title says my air compressor is dumping oil out where nothing but air should be going in. I suspected a compressor issue so I put the small factory air filter where the inlet tube bolts on. How can this be happening?

Compressor is passing oil, a head wont help, you need a new compressor, air dryer service and drain your tanks. When the compressor unloads, the unloader holds the intake valves open. Anything in the compressor can be push out the intake valves.
