I was hit yesterday by a distracted, probably texting driver.

1st thing is you are OK and held a good line keeping you vehicle upright and in your own lanes. 2nd is she survived. Can make more trucks and cars. We get biannual simulator training for just such things. She messed up and you did right by not making dramatic turn or swerve that might bring many others into situation. Good job.

Yeah, that's what I said! I jumped out and turned the valve off as soon as I came to a stop, but those CNG tanks have worried me a bit from the start. She did take out the outer casing, the insulation and scratched the actual tank. But from what I hear, those things are designed to take quite a beating before they'll go.

The steers were gone as soon as they hit and a friend of mine pointed out that the whole axle became disconnected specifically because if it didn't, the truck would pull a lot harder to the side of impact and jackknife. All I could really do was stand on the brake and stop as quickly as I could. I had no steering control when I was hit, but fortunately I was on a straight and steady path when I was.

I never saw her coming. We were on a slight hill and I was keeping an eye on a car passing me. When he swerved to avoid hitting the woman, I had my eye on him wondering what he was doing, but even if I had seen the other car coming, there just wasn't enough time. She would have hit some part of me no matter what.

There's adults out there that aren't any better then the teen drivers.

After being in a head-on accident myself, yours turned out better than mine, good job keeping control of the truck the best you could.

Wow Triad. Sounds like you had a real OH #### moment there. Glad you were not hurt any worse than you are. Just a tip for you though. You might want to rethink your statement about watching the car next to you. I can hear the attorney for this other driver, when he has you on the stand at trial. . .
"So tell me Mr. Triad, you were not paying attention to your driving, so you did not see this car coming directly for you?"

Believe me, if this goes to court, you don't want to give the opposition's dirt bag, er scum bag, er I mean ATTORNEY any ammunition. They will take it out of context, twist your words, and try to make the whole accident YOUR fault.

IMHO it's worse than DUI, at least at lower blood levels like 3 or 4 beers.

Don't worry about CNG. If the tank punctures it will naturally dissipate into the air and has no bad side effects for the environment. No boom-boom, class 4 tanks rated to 10,000 PSI.

Good that you're okay, sorry about the lost truck and I hope replacement goes fast for you. Thanks for sharing the pictures also. I was rear ended by a guy on his laptop last winter, pick up truck totalled and my trailer bumper just had a scratch on it.
