What I find amazing throughout all of this is the complete denial of how our "free market" has been so manipulated, regulated, and "controlled" by Washington and big business. It makes no sense that the average person is so willing to defend these practices. What I have found out is that "most" of them have cushy little deals and a corner of the market that not everyone has access to.
We'll not find support from these people until the government turns on "them" and they are no longer the receiptients of some of our Governments "waste". -
You said you were not able to pay your bills on what you make."
.we can't make money or a living or even pay the grocery bills for our families on what we are getting. that is the blunt of it. "
MY question which you didn't bother to read because I disagree with you actually asked ,
"You mean you are willing to work for a loss? WHY don't YOU demand a better rate of pay?"
Again the job of a business manager is to paraphrase my management 101 professor TO MAKE THE MAXIMUM PROFIT FROM THE MINIMUM INVESTMENT AND ALWAYS PRESERVE THE COMPANY FROM LOSS.
Turning the discussion away by failing to read and respond to what people say to you is often a sign of a closed mind unwilling to discuss and posting only to justify and proselytize a stance already taken. It comes in the failed debate tactics right after belittling your opponent before responding and assuming a superior stance.
Your truck was in the convoy, because your decision was to invest time and money into a protest ( running at a loss like you say you are it was a hard decision but I am proud you did make it). Now if you can find it in your planning to protest successfully for a solution that works, you will begin to accomplish the most important thing we both agree on preserving your ability to support your family in the trucking industry instead of leaving the industry.
My truck was flying a flag ( while delivering at a mall in Chicago) and contributing via support to someone who could go to Washington without stiffing a customer who pays good rates to do it.
So again.. discussing What exactly is the goal... what exactly did the protest do to accomplish some solution to a real problem that can be address by use of government? The running for less than it takes to support etc, you can address individually with no help from the government.. Identify the rate that makes you profitable, and identify and secure freight that pays that rate.
