I got my CDL from college with financial aid in Atlanta georgia
damon sease Thanks this. -
oops, all those time I said 24 months, I actually meant to say 24 weeks (6 months) of school for $10,000. I think I said weeks not months before but just to clarify.

The school I taught at in Michigan for five years was a 20 week course and cost $7500. Any kind of grant or federal or state loan there was to be had , you could get because of the length. Still is a lot of money but is a great course over all.

20 weeks?...24 weeks?
I dont think people need that long to learn how to drive a truck
our school was 8 weeks class only...Im driving tankers now moving bulk chemicalDevilDog79 Thanks this. -
Exactly. I think these schools lengthened their courses so they can qualify to be listed on FAFSA and to let students get on financial aid with a CDL technical "degree". This same school I speak of used to have a 3 week CDL A course. This school that offers the $10,000 course know they can get the $5,000 from the student's FAFSA and the other $5,000 from the students pockets so they win twice.

What state are you in?
**** Be advised, I have not attended this school yet, I've just been doing research. I plan to go in May 2015. Your findings may be different. ****
If you are in Texas or could move to Texas, I'd recommend SAGE out of San Antonio, TX. They seem to have a good reputation. Their courses are 3-5 weeks long and the lady I talked to said it costs around 4,500 dollars and that includes all the licensing fees and such (except for HazMat and TWIC which I figure would be another 300 dollars or so).
You also have to account for food and lodging because I don't think they help you with that.
6 months and 10,000 dollars sounds ridiculous!
I've been told that the PTDI certification really doesn't mean crap to employers. Employers only care that the school is legit and register with the State DPS (or DMV depending on the state).
Whatever you decide to do, good luck and let us know how it goes!
"all clear, and have a great flight."

Not all states has schools with PTDI accreditation, North Dakota for one. The same school that offers the 6 months for 10K can't stop calling me. Weird. I think 6 months for 10K will bore some students and put them in debt. School wins.
