Starting to get the hang of this, my body is adjusting to this style of running well. I've met a lot of fantastic drivers who have been teaching me a lot.
So far I am loving running my own truck. I have never had this much freedom in any other job. My truck is running great, things are good at home, I am just a happy guy right now. :biggrin_25525:
Loading bison tomorrow, so that will be a new experience. Thank god I don't pay maintenance on the trailer, I've heard bison tear them up pretty bad.

    d o g Thanks this.

This is what worked the best for me also, keep them moving, never yell at them, whistle and say hep, hep. They would just jog right on into the trailer. I used a fiberglass pole that was about 8' long, got it from a farm store, its originally made for training horses, nice light taps on the back of a cow, and the occasional poke in the hind quarter and they would almost always keep moving and rarely ever kick. A buzzer always seemed to piss them off and make them do everything but what I wanted them to do, like Dog said above, the only time I used a buzzer was to get one up that was down in the trailer.

If you ever get the misfortune of hauling a load of hogs, a buzzer is your best friend.

    Milktanker and BullJockey Thank this.

Had my first breakdown with my truck. Luckily I had just unloaded and walked to the front of the truck to find a nice puddle of coolant. Dumped a few gallons of water into the radiator and limped it to the closest shop 5 miles away. The radiator got a nice big crack. So $1300 later I am driving the truck out of the shop.

    Pretty serious buzz kill there.
Any idea why she cracked? I have been quite creative in order to get the truck home for most repairs. It seems that most people think trucker money grows on trees. AND, when I do pay someone else, I usually end up doing it all over again.

Not sure why it cracked. Just old. I've got 985,000 miles on it now. I probably could have done it myself, I have all the tools I would need. But doing a radiator would be a major pain in the neck. Oh well, that's why I keep a big maintenance fund

so the old adage is true.

Idle hands ARE the devils playground.

edit to add obviously this is really in reference to the pic of the pup.
