The word for today is "Control". In that I have control over where that 65.3 cpm go. I can reduce my tax burden by spending it on stuff for the truck. I can pick a health plan I actually want and at a price point I'm okay with. As for the deductible if I get involved in an accident, I got the dedutible buy back insurance which limits my total exposure to a grand total of $500.
Settlement today was $793.75 on 2263 miles. That breaks down to 35cpm. Pretty crappy week.

There's no penalty for not paying quarterly tax. It's an estimate anyways.
-
That's not what the IRS says http://www.irs.gov/taxtopics/tc306.html
-
Well I'm good then. I paid $0.00 in taxes last year so no matter how much I underpay this year I'm still good.
-
Well I know I didn't do any estimate tax payments last year and didn't get a penalty in Feb when I did my taxes, I'll see if it happens again.
-
You had taxes withheld every payday didn't you? (the taxes you were liable for) The liability is still there whether it comes out of your pocket or out of your check.
-
Did you file a 2210? The IRS has 3 years to assess penalties. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i2210.pdf
-
A 2210, 1040 x2, and a schedule C. I didn't itemize last year. Actually got $178 back.
-
I did not work in 2013(at all, not even a minute) So no, I PAID NO INCOME TAX IN 2013.

8/19/2014 settlement $ 1423.83 on 2551 miles(2247 loaded/304 empty). That's a fairly solid 55.4 cpm net.
Fuel cost for the week was 44.6 cpm which is outstanding. Next settlement is looking good too. When I complete the load I'm under right now i'll be at 2524 loaded with about 20 miles deadhead. My three fill ups this week have been 48, 46 and 52 cpm so fuel cost is looking good too.
