Want some opinions as to what are reputable company's to get the
truck training thru....etc. Schnieder, Swift, Prime, Cl England etc...

And is there a advantage of going out of state to train to use a particular
company..... what about the non-company training...ie CRT in Houston
    only $695..?:biggrin_25520:

cdl road test in houston is not the place to go. i went there and was going to get my cdl, put 350 down started taking my written tests and realized that i was wasting money.
first thing it is not a school. all they do is give you study materials to study at home, then take a pre test at there "office"(portable building on blocks) after getting a permit your "instructor" will work with you for about 3 days, teach you just enough to pass the road test.
the trucks are all automatics. you will learn nothing about operating a big rig, just how to steer, park and inspect the truck.
finally after you get your cdl, good luck finding a job. nobody recognizes crt as a school so you will have to go to another school before working.
I am starting roadmaster in san antonio on monday. already been accepted at tmc after i graduate. my credit was not very good but i only had to put down $1500 and that included hotel.

hope this has helped and good luck

Thanx for the heads up, $695 seemed dirt cheap, and now i know why!
They did idicate they wern't a school and thats why it was so cheap...
i'm going to get my training were there is tuition reimbursment, another
words i don't want to pay if a company's willing to foot the bill, and hire
    me on afterwards to boot...

I just looked into Roadmaster and am seriously considering them over company training. A few questions for you, if you don't mind:

    1. I was told yesterday that the down payment was $2500. Just wondering how yours is $1500.

    2. How do they set you up with a company before you even start school? I am assuming tuition reimbursement.

    3. My credit isn't very good either (low 600's). I am wondering if that is in the same ballpark as yours because I will need financing.

    Thanks a lot!

  8. Bearsox, have you looked into Roehl. I think they are 2500 and they are located in Marshfield, should be pretty close for you.

I have and talked to a recruiter. It sounded great, but then I didn't hear anything back from them.

I am pre-approved at Schneider. I was thinking about Roadmaster so I won't be stuck in a contract.

Just one thing to remember is that you need to fulfill your term or you might and or will get stuck with a big fat loan:biggrin_25521: that you and you alone will have to pay:biggrin_25513: as second and third co's wont touch it..............:biggrin_2554:

as for the down payment I asked what the absolute minimum they would accept and gave them a check by phone

I got the pre-hire on my own so I could devote my entire time at school on learning without trying to fit in a job search

my credit score needs a telescope and clear skies to see yours you will be just fine with that
