Ziggy, can you make some sense of this for me?

A big Orange recruiter called me and said she had a Dedicated run,
10-12 out and 1-2 off. Basicallly, east of the Missippi river, which is not a problem except NYC not crazy about that.

Anyway, this doesnt sound too dedicated to me.

    Thanks in advance.

Is there an employee manual online somewhere for Schneider? I want a current one.

Well hmm, Im not going to be much help here. I looked on the employee section of the site and couldn't find anything around your neck of the woods in GA.
They do have a bunch of stuff, it looks like up in NC. I know they have freight that comes out of Memphis as well for another dedicated account.

Im wondering...did they tell you which accoutn it was for? It would be nice just to be able to do some more research on it.

Each dedicated account is different and each one has lots of variations inside of them. On my particular account, I think all the drivers are home daily. There are some teams, but mostly solos. I get my freight via team. I take my sleeper berth truck and 48 foot trailer westward where I hand off freight to a guy in a day cab and pup trailer. Along with that, I know Schneider actually has a set of doubles that runs this account as well.

Also...it also depends on the account as far as what you do. I know that they have the Dollar tree account (or had, at least)...and the drivers had a list of stores to go to, usually not the same ones.

Dedicated is usually defined as delivering for / to a particular company, knowing your freight, knowing your home time....etc. Just depends on which account as to how exactly it works.

They do have a current handbook or whatever online at their employee website. Outside of that, you get plenty o stuff at training. They give you a big ol honkin book for student reading and such...all in all rather useful.

However, I can't find anythign that lists in detail what is allowed and not allowed. I sort of got into it on another website because of that fact...Id like something in writing about what I can / can't have on the truck...not just "well Im a mechanic, so I know..."

Two times a charm, I slam dunked the road test today, not even one pull-up on the alley dock.

    Feels great !!! what a relief . . .

Congratulations Jason! What do you do now? I mean I have heard there may be a 7 day break until you go pickup a truck. Although I'm not sure myself if that is true. Also where would you have to pick it up? How do you get to the pickup point if it's not at the school?

Thanks all! It's a big confidence booster for me.

Now I'm getting trained for my SQT (schneiders final hoop to jump through), should take it next week and then be assigned a truck, from what I've seen it happens pretty quickly. Although a 7 day break would be bliss right now :)

Can't wait to get through this crap, tired of driving with an instructor watching me, I feel I'm ready to be set free, although everyday training I do really learn a lot of new stuff.

passed my sqt today and did my first assignment by myself. feelings of nervousness and excitement all blurred together. Have to continue to focus on going slow, safe, and not hitting anything.

No more instructors, started on March 14th and it's May 12th today, so roughly 2 months of training for Bulk division for someone with no CDL. Had many moments of weakness and doubt, but also moments of triumph and accomplishment. I feel much more confident having been able to tame that wild beast of a machine.

They are trying to push me to do regional now, apparently they need regional guys, but I think I'll stay with over the road to start. . .

This concludes my part of this thread since my training has concluded. Feel free to PM with any questions. I may start a thread to describe the post training world of schneider bulk division.
