I have called both of my Senators to implore them to table this bill as it is shortsighted. If O/O's would actually look into S2910 they will see how it will really hurt them instead of help.
-
I'd be interested if you would expand on your thought of the shortsighted parts of this bill.
-
Before I explain my position.... Here is a question... Does S2910 require the FSC to be mandatory ???
-
Not the way that I read it, only if there IS a FSC, must they show that it is going to the truck.
I read the pdf of that bill, and I agree, its very short sided, simply because there isn't much meat in the thing that really makes it truely enforceable.
Much more thought and words need to be put into this thing, before it reaches a vote. -
You are correct !!!
The FSC would go bye-bye under S2910 and rates would be stagnant...
Make the FSC mandatory based on DOE Weekly Diesel prices and then it would be good for the O/O. -
This is where I believe you are wrong.
First, let the FSC leave. Who in their right mind will pull the freight. Must be you since you think it will happen.
If the base rate and the FSC are not sufficient, the freight remains lonely, because I will not pull it. -
I do not pull cheap freight with my trucks..... But there are many buck a mile wonders who will....
-
I haven't figured out which way is best. I like the idea of the FSC, with the bill being rewritten with more substance, because then the brokers aren't going to get a percentage of the FSC at all. If the FSC goes away, then its strictly a pay per mile rate and guess what, the brokers get a percentage of that, no matter what.
Currently, as things stand, the FSC is a rip off, plain an simple, because who knows the actual amount that is being paid. No broker is going to tell you what he is charging the shipper.
If the FSC becomes mandatory, then, at least there is a way for the O/O to help recoup some of his expenses, without the broker dipping into that money.
But this bill needs to be rewritten, and not by bureaucrats but actual O/O's that are footing the bill, and dealing with the scum bag brokers that are pocketing the FSC for them selfs.

Why do you assume you are the only one who is not a buck a mile wonder?
Your posts leave the impression that you are better than everyone else. This is just an observation.
