I am not sure yet. The recruiter told me I would start at either 1 or 2 pm.. Those are good hours for me because I am a night owl to begin with. Plus on my days off my sleep cycle will stay the same..

I was talking with a friend at the OD here in Las Vegas and he pretty much told me the same thing that everyone else has said here. The only difference is I would be running nights. As in starting at 6-10pm and ending whenever I get back from Phoenix, or Rialto, or Tonopah or Beaver Utah. The Tonopah and Beaver runs are triples, the rest are doubles. And I have to get those on my license and Hazmat and Tanker before I can get hired.

The OD local drivers usually work only day shifts right? Also what does the health insurance look like at Old Dominion?

P/D drivers, the schedule varies. The drivers at my terminal (Indy) have start times anywhere from 5 am to 6 pm. They usually work 10-12 hours a day, 13-14 on occasion. Weekends are always off, which is nice. The smaller terminals might be different, though. Indy is pretty much a round-the-clock operation.
DriverToBroker Thanks this. -
Does OD hire with no experience? I have all endorsements on my CDL .. have an interview with YRC next week.. but would love to drive at OD after I get some miles under my belt if need be!

OD hires student drivers w/ a CDL A from a private school, or they hire off the street and have their own in-house CDL school (if you're near an OD terminal that offers that training). So, yes. They hire without experience. But keep in mind that each terminal is different, i.e. they hire according to need. You do not need experience.PacerTrucka Thanks this.

guess the orlando OD isn't that big/busy like some of the others never see them hiring. Wish I could do there in house program!

are all pay raises annually or do new hires get performance review raises periodically?
