As a retired Truck driver for over 20 years and now a Recruiter I can tell you alot of companies will pay for everything from the permit on up for a minimal commitment. Some as little as 8 months which in my opinion is excellent training for the newbe. I place alot of CDL students with and without the CDL in there possession. The biggest question you should be asking yourself is what is the school going to do for me? I get alot of calls from school grads who are looking for work because the School left them hanging... Alot of companies will take you but now your stuck with a 4,000 bill.. If you new guys have any questions feel free to shoot me an Email@ highwaycareers@gmail.com Be safe out there !

OK, passed my state test!
Out of the 3 students, 2 passed, 1 failed the 4 point brake check I believe... too bad, feel sorry for them but is real easy to get nervous or anxious and make a silly mistake. Didn't miss anything, although during pre-trip the examiner didn't need everything that we had studied for... not sure why but OK, threw me off a little bit, and almost missed some things, but do to my training at school, just had to get back on track and was good to go...
Called Melton and Schneider and let them know that I will be going with TMC, should start Aug 25! Want to thank anyone and everyone for their suggestions and insight into this new chapter of my life! This forum has been very helpful in helping me learn a vast amount of knowledge in a very short period of time. Now I need to get out there and gain some real world experience. I do feel that SAGE gave me the BEST training to be successful in attaining my CDL A license, as I wanted the 1 on 1 instruction and seat time. While in the middle of the training I realized that the 11 drive wasn't necessary for me ( I picked up things quickly), I didn't waiver on that as I wanted AS MUCH seat time as possible, I would rather be overly prepared than under prepared. I was very confident in my ability to pass the state test, although was surprised that I was a little too anxious to get that over with, and could have easily made an unfortunate mistake. I couldn't sleep last night, and due to the 1 student who didn't even get out on the road, my test was earlier than expected, which made me a little unsettled because I wanted to go over things one last time... LOL.... Thanks again everyone!alleydock06 and dennisroc Thank this. -
Great Job...best of luck to you..

Best advice I can give is to try to get some good rest the night before! I had this whole thing down, but couldn't sleep well at all, kept going through the inspections in my mind, and was tired. The thing is, I really could have missed some things on the pre trip inspection, as I was going way too fast, and hadn't done it since 3 days prior. Just take your time, and go through the motions, you should know all these things, and there is no reason to go too fast, which could have cost me my license this AM. Out of the 3 of us students, only 1 didn't pass and found out from him that was because he forgot to push in the protection valves during his 4 point brake check. He realized the error quickly, but was an automatic fail, so he retests on Thursday.
Good luck, will say a prayer for your success! ..... done!wreckdiver Thanks this. -
Outstanding !!!! Congratulations on your achievements and hard earned success. You will do well. You have also earned the title of " DRIVER ". Take what you have learned and perfect it everyday, never stop learning. Your attitude alone will help you along, as well as your aptitude. Next goal ?????? 1 million safe miles, lolGWIZ2260 Thanks this.

TMC has really nice trucks. Flatbed work will keep you in shape and who knows, you may want to step up to heavy haul. Good $$$$ and prestige. The sky's the limit.GWIZ2260 Thanks this.

Just wanted to update the thread, as 1 person out of the 3 students in my class, tested for the second time today. They apparently failed the backing test this time.... guess he is going to get some extra time backing back at SAGE and test again Sept 8.... this person is the one who almost caused the big accident earlier on in this thread, which I just had to get off my chest.. anyways, wish them the best, but I feel it was in no way any fault of the training they received from SAGE, just that sometimes some people either are not cut out for this, or just don't motivate themselves to improve on their weaknesses... any number of things. While I am sad for them, I expected this person to have a difficult time.... enough said....
