Im not sure if things are still done this way, this was in 2010. If your a SC resident, go to a onestop office and tell them you want to become a truck driver. They will pay the 3k tuition fee for you to get your lisence. You will go to Orangeburg calhoun tech, 4 week program, 180 hrs. When I went there I had to pay with cash, bc i lived with parents and the income was to high. The first week is classroom, week 2 is pre trip, week 3 is training, then you take the driving test. week 4 is laid back.

Any trucking school that does not put you in the truck on a closed course is highly not recommended ......you also said that week 4 is laid back? week for should be fine tuning your backing skills and the rules of the road....not a minute of the 140 hour required course should be laid back....I would avoid this school in its entirety !!! I can recommend a good school that pays for your costs with an 8 month commitment..
