CT is a good company. They have one of the best pay rates around and they treat you reasonably well. The shop leaves a lot to be desired but it's the same with most companies. You could do a lot worse than CT.

Amen to that. I think its starting be an industry wide thing.

Not too long after they started getting trucks and trailers with super singles I had a nail in one of my drive tires that started a nice air leak. I had to wait at the Claremont yard for 2 hours for road service to come change it (one of those tire guys thats usually there during the day). Talked to a friend of mine thats still at CT that had to have one replaced a week or two ago, sounds like they're doing what they do with duals and changing the tire/wheel. In and out in a few minutes he said.
One thing that I liked about CT, even if the shop was hit and miss with most repairs (common issue at any company, shop, TS, etc) is that there was always some one there 24/7 at the shop, pretty helpful to get authorization to get a new radiator at midnight, or road service called at 3am for a blown tire. My current company doesn't have anyone working at all after business hours, we have all the dispatch and head of the shops cell/house numbers. I don't like calling some one at 10pm with an issue and interrupting their time at home/sleep. -
I agree Joey,
I like having a 24 hour shop. That being said I see a lot of things they could improve on. They so called fixed my bunk A/C 3 times. And It's the same now as it was the first time I took it in. I just gave up cause it cost me too much money to set at the yard for 6 hours and it's not fixed anyway. But I have seen other companies just as bad and some a lot worse. Have a friend working for Western Xpress and they are horrible. OD had a crappy shop also. 3 hours to fix a tire.

AC repairs are their weakest spot IMO. The century I had was in the shop three or four times before being repaired correctly (needed new compressor). In April 2012 my cascadia stopped blowing ice cold AC if the outside temp was over 80 or so. I wrote it up so many times I lost count. Never was repaired correctly. If it was 100 plus outside it could easily be 80-90 in the cab with AC going full blast (idling). Impossible to sleep. Almost unbearable temperatures driving. Passed a guy driving my cascadia a few weeks ago. Was in the mid 90's outside and he was rolling down i81 with te windows rolled down. I knew why instantly.

They keep telling me "The bunk AC won't do very much more than 10 degree's better than the outside temp" (ie..Your asking too much from the unit) Bulls**t! I've had bunk AC before and it is supposed to do a lot better than mine! Mine is the same as the outside air! I haven't rocked the boat too much right now cause I know summer is over soon anyway. However next summer they got two choices...FIX IT RIGHT or GIVE ME ANOTHER TRUCK! I'm not sweating my ##### off all summer in the bunk cause the shop can't figure out how to fix it!

The Challenger Thanks this. -
Why do you guys run super singles anyway? I never understood why anyone would.
-
I may have missed it but does CT use e-logs?
-
Yes we do and so will everybody else in a few years.
-
Good thing. I like e-logs.
I'm thinking of giving the recruiter a call soon. I've only been driving since November tho and I'd like to avoid the 8 week training. So we'll see what happens.
Thanks.
