And if all of a sudden on the first day, a 600 mile load paying $1800 pops up (and believe me, there are more than a few of them), who is going to get it, the guy with 11 hours or the guy with 8?

I want to put myself in position to get the best load possible, and there are more load possibilities with more hours than with fewer.

    600 / 8 = 75

    600 / 11 = 55

How fast does your truck go again?

And you have 8 hours while I have 11? Thanks for letting me have the immensely profitable load!!!

Dude, I usually have enough hours in the bank to cover something like that, AND remember, if I'm dispatched in the afternoon, I'll be getting 8+ back at midnight. Fageddaboutit. I'm getting that load because O knows I can do it! Besides... you got to be on the A-team to be on the board I'm on. Bench warmers to the back of the dispatch queue please!!

I wouldn't be A team? Go drop my name to the guy in the cowboy hat that runs the simulator lab that used to be my FM. Ask him what team I would have been on.

Secondly, you "usually" would have enough hours in the bank. In a situation where you didn't have the hours in the bank, I'd have the load because I burned hours the week before faster. In the 5.5 years I was at Prime, I might have run my 70 out as a solo and had to take a reset once or twice. However, it doesn't take an engineer to know that having more hours available to run at any given time is better than having fewer.

I agree. And to think this all started with my post a couple days ago asking what was my fm thinking on a load he gave. LOL. It has been entertaining to read this though.

Can someone explain tome the 8hour rule?

    Thanks
