Hey everybody. Newbie here. I have been reading threads on here for half a year or so now and am loving the information available to truckers and many others. My question is this. I am a rookie driver that just got his CDL. I chose to get my training with a company that had a terminal near Minneapolis since I live in Minneapolis with my girlfriend who attends college here in town. I am no longer happy with the way things are working out between me and my current employer. I am really wanting to go to work with the company that was intentionally intended to be my first choice...Schneider National. My question is can I work for Schneider National and still live in Minneapolis, MN? I imagine that I could, but rather how does that work? They do not have a terminal in Minneapolis, MN but they do have two nearby being Green Bay, WI and Des Moines, IA. Does Schneider have a drop yard in the Twin Cities area? I do not want to have to drive to one of their terminals every time I need to go to work or come home. Anyone work for Schneider National that lives in Minnesota that could help? P.S. I live in downtown Minneapolis in an apartment. No parking here, although I have seen just the tractor on city streets. Any help ASAP would be great as I am trying to get a new company to work for. Thanks for your time people.

They don't have a terminal there and they use the rail yard there and have a couple of drop yard in the area from what i remember. If you want a good company that is in your area check out Transport Designs out of Savage Mn they are a small company but are great to work for and have some good equipment and run west and back to the twin city's i was leased to them as an O/O for a year and loved them. If they were only closer to my home then of Oklahoma. Give them a call and see what they can do for you.

schneider does hire out of minnisota parking can be at any place you can fit a truck and have permission, that can be an schneider facility or a truckstop as long as you have permission from the owner and have a plan on what to do if the truck wont start your good to park any where on gods green earth if you live over 100 miles from an operating center which i think you do, even so i live 50 miles and my dispatcher lets me take my tractor home so it does depend on your dispatcher as well. call up a recruiter and see whats up if your otr you wont need to worry about parking the truck for a while most new hires are out for a month the first time around before any time at home.

Capnhector...Really appreciate that. I am assuming that if you live over a 100 miles away that Schneider or most anybody would send you home with a load? You stay home your 2 days and then continue on right. Or have they ever sent ou home empty or just bobtailing. Thanks man.

IloveRoadTrips--you can call schneider and they can tell you where their closest drop yard is!
