What are some companies that will train me in their class b vehicle so I can take my road test in it?

Do you think anyone would go for that and how much do you think it would cost?

Can you add tank and hazmat to your class b permit or do you have to wait until it's a license?

Also if I ask someone to let me train in their class b vehicle and they say yes which companies only have automatic vehicles to train and road test in?

    Thanks [IMG]

If all you want is a class B, go to any school bus company, they will gladly train you for a B with passenger and school bus. Yes you can add tank and hazmat, do it all at once so you do not have to retake the skills test ( a simulated railroad crossing is required for tank and even though you would have done it foe the passenger they will make you do it again if you don't just do both at the same time), and be sure to get the air brake restriction removed. Most school bus companies will require you work for them for a school year, 9 months isn't bad and they are not vultures like the mega carriers that train for the class A. Lastly, most school buses are automatic but keep in mind in some states if you test on an automatic you will have an automatic only restriction on your cdl which will limit the companies willing to hire you.

I don't have an air brake restriction. I took it and passed the first try.

Is it okay if I take P, S, and Tank, to like you said not take the skill test over( I thought one skill test was all they did),but can I at least take the hazmat when I get the actual license? I want to study a bit more for that one. I mean they won't make me take yet another skill test for hazmat will they?

The hazmat ,tanker, doubles, triples, are endorsements and require a Written test only, the skills test is done using an appropriate type vehicle that you want to be licensed on ,you do not have to retest while hauling a tank or haz for example , just straight or combination, over 26,001, or any trailer over 12,000, or any Vic w air brakes, this does not however mean air over hydrolic, as in some medium dutys have, an A covers you for B but not the other way around , as far as automatic only endorsement , I think that's a myth , I am certainly prepared to accept and apologize if some one can show me , its the class of vehicular ,not the trans or engine type , as far as I know, somebody chime in if you can show a reg. Or such .?just get the A seriously , if you put a trailer behind the dump truck ,,,,,,it requires an A anyway.

I have a class b license with air brake and tanker endorsement. Basically a waste of time these days. Just about anyone that is unemployed can get free class a training paid for by Obamacare.. Theres so many Class A drivers now that most companys are going to give a class a driver preferential treatment. Remember theres no shortage of people with class a license. Big,shortage of decent paying jobs

Here is the Ca. VC section:[h=3]V C Section 15263 Restriction to Automatic Transmissions[/h]
[h=4]Restriction to Automatic Transmissions[/h]15263. (a) Any applicant for a commercial driver's license who successfully completes the driving-skill test in a vehicle or combination of vehicles equipped with an automatic transmission, shall, if otherwise qualified, receive a commercial driver's license that restricts the licenseholder from operating a commercial motor vehicle or combination of vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.
    (b) To remove the restriction described in subdivision (a) from a commercial driver's license, the driver is required to make a new application for a commercial driver's license, and, in addition to any other requirements specified in this code, successfully complete the driving-skill test in a vehicle or combination of vehicles equipped with a manual transmission.

    Added Ch. 1509, Stats. 1988. Effective January 1, 1989.
