If that's the case, don't bother with a 12v.... You should be able to pick up a good-enough microwave from walmart for around $50. If you're lucky, you'll find one that fits properly in the shelving on your truck.

Well then, what's the issue? ... Just go to Wal Mart and get a 700w microwave for about $50.

The inverter says 1500 watts so the 700 watt microwave with work fine correct?

Yeah, mine is 700w I believe. I make sure the APU or truck is running and that I don't have any other power-hungry devices plugged in at the same time, just to be safe.

700W microwave runs fine on a 1500w invertor. Just make sure the engine (either APU or main) is running. And don't try to run the coffee pot at the same time.....

I know you may not like my idea.. So take it with a grain of salt. When I worked for a carrier that didn't allow inverters. I bought a nice big inverter. A very hefty set of jumper cables. Ran my jumper cables from those pegs on the frame behind the cab meant for jump starting.. In though my side door and under the bunk to the inverter. Taped up the jumper cable ends that connected to the inverter them wrapped it in rubber and zipped tied them shut. Then when I had to go through a terminal or needed work. Just unhook the jumpers from the post and lay them in the side box. Ran it that way for 2 years and no problem. Just have to be careful, creative and a bit cynical sometimes.

Wonder if you could use a 400 watt inverter to run a 700 watt microwave at medium power.....at medium power.....wouldnt the microwave only be using 350 watts.....
