I was saying Melton the flat bed company allows pets.
rroney7768 Thanks this. -
Oh ok, thanks RogerThat72 ... I've already been talking to them. They're pretty much my first choice right now. I read the thread you started and that was one of my deciding factors. Your thread and the one started by bnr.

I've been looking for companies that allow large dogs. So far I've talked with four companies:
H.O. Wolding - allows pets up to 80lb.
Frey Miller - 100lb. limit
U.S. Express - no weight limit. There is a $500 deposit taken out in $50 increments. No aggressive breeds, such as pit bulls, rottweilers.
Knight - allows pets, (depends on which service center you're hired out of) some breeds excluded. Waiting to hear back whether mine is allowed or not.
Hope that helps.rroney7768 Thanks this. -
Just adding a note, no breed/size restrictions, they depend on you to be a good owner. It is a $500 deposit, taken out in $50 increments.rroney7768 and Solarpower818 Thank this.

What do you guys do with your pets at shippers/receivers, who do not allow them on their property?

When I was OTR I took my dog and would probably not go back to OTR if I could not take a dog with me. BEWARE, many of the companies that people will tell you allow pets DO NOT allow pets. A large number of the reports that "ABC Trucking allows pets" come from drivers see a ABC Trucking Company truck with a pet inside. There are a few drivers at many companies that sneak a pet into their truck. At every company I've worked at that did not allow pets an "illegal pet" is considered the same offense as picking up a hitchhiker or unauthorized passenger, that could mean instant termination and you figure out how to get home.
Assume all companies you are told about do not allow pets until you verify with a phone call or see it on the company web site. The last time I checked into the matter I found that something like only 5-10% of companies allow SMALL pets. The ones that do usually have weight-limit on the pet, charge a deposit, and many don't refund the deposit even if the truck is returned cleaned.
When I was carrying my dog it was great, but layovers and breakdowns were often a problem. The hotel your company sends you to might not allow a pet. If your truck goes to the shop for something serious requiring all-day or multi-day repair their driver lounge may not allow pets. -
I've been wondering what to do in the case of breakdowns, etc. My dog is almost 90lbs. What did you do in those situations tscottme?
